I just checked on my player and watched a few scenes from Warcraft 4k and Sicario Blu and the Dolby Atmos plays with no issues using My Pioneer VSX-90.

M is a year newer. Significant point is that the M doesn't have a 2nd hdmi out in case you need that for audio.

What version firmware/software have you got? Go into the Support option to get full details

Just got this player for my birthday. Sadly I don't have any UHD blu rays yet but I'm quite happy with its performance so far and look forward to getting more 4k content soon.

1013 is my version. I got that version the week before Christmas. I just tried to update online and it stated I have the latest version.

If you want a great example of 35mm film scanned at 4k, snag "A Few Good Men." It's a superb transfer and one of the best of the many quality Sony UHD discs so far.

Just got back from Tel Aviv where i spent the holiday and updated my own UBD last night, Firmware version 1013 is the same as i have got.

By the way, how do i 'check to see what Hz my Samsung 4K tv is displaying at? I play games at a variety of framerates, from Uncharted 4 multiplayer running at 1080p 60fps, to Forza 7 on the 1X at 2160p and 60fps...

Anyone have issues with stutter and skipping when watching 4K discs with this player?
Was trying to watch Interstellar tonight and at around chapter 15 it started happening.

I tried to fast forward, rewind and skip to no avail.

Well, mine froze obout 1 hour in, last night when I was watching The Martian-extended.
Did a little fast rewind, and then fast forward, that did it👍
Did not occur again, through the rest of the movie.

What is the best 4k bluray player for the money that does HDR and DV? As in I am interested in the TCL 55 4K P series because of what you get for the money. Which player is the best bang for your buck? Is this Sony one it?

I think only 3 players are out now: Oppo UDP 203 for $550.00, Oppo UDP for $1300.00, LG UP970 for 180.00.

I'm waiting for more choices before I upgrade. The Sony UBP-X800 gets alot of great reviews for 150.00, but it doesn't have the DV. Good Luck

Well have had the K8500 now for about a month and its played every disc I have thrown at it flawlessly and the upscale to 4K of Blu ray's looks great. The only 4K Blu ray I own is TF's The Last Knight and all I can say is wow! The movie itself is not so great but the PQ and audio is unreal. I need to start buying more 4K Blu's asap! Lol

I have issues with Blade Runner: Final Cut and Batman Begins. I feel that it might be the discs since people report identical problems with Sony and Oppo players. Hopefully Samsung has a firmware update that fixes it.

Hey everyone, sorry but I'm feeling a little lazy today and I don't want to wade through 260+ pages in this thread. I've done a bunch of research on this player and I'm about to pull the trigger but I have one small thing to confirm.

Am I right thinking this plays any region Blu ray and dvd? I know 4K discs are technically region free but I want make sure it plays any region Blu ray, 3d Blu ray and dvds.

Sorry, players are not allowed to be region free from the factory for both BD and DVD. The only work around is a RF mod in the after-market. You can buy modded players, or mod yourself with a kit (depending on availability ).

Uh oh, I just got confused.

So is there any player that does the following:
Plays 4K discs
Plays dvd/BD/3D BD from any region

After all my research this is the one I thought did all that.

You buy the Oppo player and then a region mod kit... or get one pre modded from various vendors. Internal modifications void the Oppo warranty. However, there are external kits available.
