I e-mailed OPPO asking if they plan to release a UHD player and they replied that they are looking to do so "sometime in mid-to-late 2016".

I thought they said late 2016/early 2017 last time someone asked. I'm happy to know it looks like 2016 now.

They cut all corners, and it's still a POS. Can't do 1080p60fps, has to upscale from 900p or 720p still. Lol.

[Show spoiler]<<< PC Gamer trolling. PS4 serves it's purpose for me: Streaming box that does all the apps I need (only player that streams Funimation and Crunchyroll in 1080p), and some JRPGs are fun to pick up and play. I paid like $250 for it after trading in PS3.

Talking about it being a bad blu-ray player, is it just me, or is it really bad at 3D? Like, it does it, but I get a LOT of cross talk or ghosting. I have the Sony X850C using Samsung glasses (RF active so it works), and the 3D form a PS4 is trash. Watched Life of PI in 3D some scenes and had an annoying amount of ghosting. The X850C form Rtings.com got rated a 9/10 with "little to no crosstalk", so not sure that's the problem.

Used it to watch a few 3D films recently on an LG passive set and the 3D was fine. No crosstalk at all

Samsung's product page. Where you can also read the manual, if you want.

Their general release time the last few years has been Oct/Nov. I know for a fact Beta guys wont have them until mid year, and MediaTek already said they won't be mass producing the SoC until mid year. Long story short, the 113 or whatever it will be should be selling in October '16.

My plan is to run the Samsung until the Oppo is released.

That for some reason really made me laugh. If only it had a remote control that could switch the thing on or off without having to hold in the PS button and navigate a menu, I might actually switch the thing on then.

There's no mention of Dolby ATMOS or DTS X could it even bit stream them or would it just be down sampled?

There's talk of Movie Frame : Auto (24Fs) ※ 2160p, 1080p &1080i only but if you look at what switching it on or off does you will see that it plays all content at 24fps so if something is 60fps encoded it will just play at 24fps.

BD Wise (Samsung Products only) • When BD Wise is On, the Resolution setting automatically defaults to BD Wise and BD Wise appears in the Resolution menu. • If the product is connected to a device that does not support BD Wise, you cannot use the BD Wise function. • For the proper operation of BD Wise, set the BD Wise option of both the product and the TV to On.

So in other words that's what the next generation of CEC will do.

The Blu-ray player has always been, and will always be, absolutely IRRELEVANT to Atmos/X.

Are you going to preorder any of the movies? Best buy has all the fox movies up for pre order at 29.99. Even though I've got the martian hdr on mgo, im gonna get the disc as the quality will be better. Other than that.. not sure I'm gonna bite on the other Fox movies.

I agree about oppo, I'll be doing the same. I've seen alot of people with the same plan.
