Some of us have jobs and as long as I don't show symptoms of sickness, that does not warrant calling out sick for a couple of weeks, especially since I was out sick for a week last month with the flu.
You know best what to do, we all know best what to do.
This time around it's more serious, it's not about money, it's about life and death.

Please do continue to explain how little you know about virus transmission. The virus didn't travel all the way from China. Seriously have you done any kind of reading whatsoever on this case?? A health worker who traveled to Iran came back with it. That's it. The virus didn't travel thousands of miles. It was carried unknowingly by a single individual.

It's one thing to be concerned about the virus, it's another to act as overly histrionic as you are being. You are seriously overreacting, and it seems it's based on your ignorance of the virus, and how it works. So please educate yourself, and do try not to panic.

Also for the record, I was at Mt. Sinai hospital yesterday too.

Two cases up in the Tampa area...only a matter of days before someone in Miami is diagnosed with it .

I'm more worried about what this virus is going to do to the economy. As a health hazard, if we all just follow a few simple procedures, like frequent hand washing, we should be OK for the most part but this could potentially have big implications financially for a lot of people.

If it doesn't get contained, and if the CDC doesn't properly test for it soon (they're slowly getting their act together, but it may too late), it's going to become a nightmare situation here. I think in like 2 weeks or so we might wake up to headlines saying there's several thousand cases in the US, and it's in the wild. Hopefully not though.

The economy will absolutely suffer, and has already because of it. Not only because of scared stiff investors, but consumers will also limit how much they start going out, to the movies, etc..

Unless they close all the airports to limit travel, which would be next to impossible and rather disastrous, I don't see how this will be easy to contain. Airplanes themselves are perfect incubators for viruses and thousands of people come and go without a care in the world.

Not saying I'm gonna be reckless, but I'm not gonna put my life on hold for this thing. I'm mildly germaphobic as is (I always have hand sanitizer on me and I practice all the standard methods of personal hygiene), so I'm just gonna keep living life and hope for the best. I'm young/healthy enough that if I get it, I doubt it'll do much more than maybe knock me on my ass for a week or two. Inconvenient and annoying, sure. But I just don't understand the people who are buying supplies in bulk or plan to lock down til this is over. Just doesn't seem feasible. (I do have to travel regularly for work though, but I'm hoping that gets put on hold for a bit.)

I wonder how this will affect public transportation likes buses and subways?

Then there is private transportation like Uber, who will most likely surge their prices.

I think they need to have stricter restrictions in place for people coming from virus hotzones like Iran, Italy, S. Korea, and Japan. They apparently are doing something like that for Iran arrivals, but not the others, which makes no sense.

I'd still go to movies and pick empty screenings and sit away from people.

If you are healthy and not elderly, it doesn’t seem anything to worry about. But people like me (have cancer) should take more precautions.

I'm not wealthy, it's even worse...I cannot afford health care.

What a dilemma ...
