I see they're trying to get more money out to small businesses, I wonder if another stimulus check could be coming down the road too
I think it's really dumb to try to re-open things like bowling alleys & movie theaters, but I can see the need for salons to open up (I'm assuming the workers and clients will have to wear masks/do their diligence to stay safe) |

So in CT, Liquor stores are open, and bars you can order take-out (including drinks). I doubt that's working very well for them, but it is an option

It’s likely there will be. After this current package passes, the next one will probably be to bail out oil companies and other things, which could include another round of checks.

I'm almost not sure, with how politics seems to be. By the time they can get the next stimulus passed, half the country will be (foolishly) back to work

Fortunately getting back to work is up to people who have to look at the big picture, which includes the economy. And not those thinking of the implications of just one or the other. It's going to be a balancing act for quite some time.

you cant just order liquor though. has to be purchased with food. also, you cant just go an order a mixed drink, all must be in sealed containers.

Eh, in my experience, going back to work is decided by corporate people who can still work from home lol |

I meant people like governors and government officials, who are responsible for the economy as well. I'm not a Gavin Newson fan, but I think he has handled the crisis well and I like his outline and plan of attack on getting people back to work in stages. Most other places will do the same, being gradual about it and pulling back when it turn out to be too much too soon.

Our neighbours opposite have decided to place a table and chairs at the bottom of our drive (it's a communal drive) and there are about eight people, adults and kids sitting around having a "great" time, drinking, colouring in.
It basically means we're trapped, we can't put our rubbish out and can't drive out in an emergency if we needed to. A delivery just came and the guy had to walk right past them, he was not a happy camper. I wouldn't have even bothered. These are the clowns that are clapping for the NHS with their pots and pans at 8 o'clock. Hypocritical passive-aggressive bullshit. |

"The implementation order allows restaurants and other liquor permittees to sell sealed alcoholic beverages in the manufacturers’ containers for off-premise consumption during regular liquor store hours." It also does not allow restaurants to deliver alcohol. " http://www.courant.com/coronavirus/h...3rm-story.html |

Is there a consensus set of scientific metrics and guidelines out there?
Something like, "Testing capacity should be at X level in an area before gradual reopening. Confirmed cases should should then dip below X number before loosening restrictions even further" yada yada. I realize that wasn't a very intelligent way of asking my question, but hopefully someone understands what I'm getting at. |

Later on higher risk business can reopen if testing capacity increases to a certain level. Ideally it would be something like a saliva test that can accurately tell in seconds whether you have it or not. That would make even large gatherings such as concerts and sporting events possible. But don't know if such a test is feasible or not. But there will be some trial and error of course. That's why it was mentioned that there will be some back and forth of restrictions removed and reinstated whenever it causes cases to jump too much. |
