This pandemic is really bringing out the paranoia in some people.

Shelter in place extending in the Bay Area through the end of May, even though cases have been flat. I don't think it's necessary and now it'll do more harm than good. When people are allowed to emerge from their caves, they'll be more prone to the virus due to lack of exercise and sunlight. And of course many businesses will go under, mostly small ones who got elbowed out for the PPP loans by the bigger companies who have working relationships with banks and have accountants who know how to get in front of the line.

90% of it is just social distancing and wearing masks when you can't social distance. No reason to open up low risk businesses to give them a chance to survive.

I'd say the Federal Government is going to have to send unemployment aid to states that refuse to open their economies back up. That might come before another stimulus check.

I really find it funny how people here are like, relax, it's going to be ok. And then they post things like, we may never have a vaccine, the virus will not go away by summer, or Coronavirus will be with us forever. I mean, I know they are possibilities, but we have no proof of any of this. This is a new virus so not even experts can determine the outcome at this point. Think about it. If I go outside for a walk, there's a possibility I can get shot and killed. But am I going to think about that every time I go out for a walk and worry about it? Of course not!

So let's just stay positive and not keep thinking of the worst case scenario!

Stay at home order ends this week in Texas.
Phase 1 of reopening allows theaters to open with 25% capacity.

I miss going to the movies. It's one of the great joys in my life but no way in hell will I be going back there this soon...

I'd go to see a movie in a packed theater today if I could.

Where did I say NYC? I'm upstate where the cases are mild...open us up today. NYC may be a week or two away. Hoping most if not all places are open by May 15th.

Speaking of being completely healthy, is anyone else on email lists for fast food places?

They're giving away free items like its going out of style. Free tacos with no other purchase or even using the app from Taco Bell, free whoppers from Burger King with the app, free burgers or chicken sandwiches at Wendy's with the app (they were generous before this though).

Bill Burr has the best conspiracy theories on fast food:

This won't be popular with many people ( and I could care less anyway ) but I have this feeling it was manmade and unleashed for a lot of legit reasons due to certain historical actions and desires by parts of the world and who they are all in league with and what has infected the west.

I would not be shocked if this opening up with full knowledge is part of a greater plan, you see everyone has just blindly bent over and accepted all these rights taken away from them all on the premise of this virus only. That's down to Fear...fear of fines and fear of catching the virus. Yet there is all sorts of things about that which raises other questions.

Obviously they are aware that there is a massive risk and of a second wave by opening things up, virtually going right back to square one or worse. It also gives them this cute little excuse that if it does get worse they can instantly say "oops see now we REALLY have a reason to enforce all these changes and take rights away even more". Naturally the herd will simply go along with that.

People also forget a certain individual said he would be totally fine with 75% of the world being wiped out if it meant a certain system went into place. Last I checked the governments of the world never agreed like this before and the stench of these actions and changes since this "pandemic" are eerily close to that system if we look at eastern europe and other countries during those eras...we even have people reporting each other to governments and personal practices being forbidden in gatherings etc...all of this is in the name of the "greater good the common man" etc.

Let's be realistic too, what country in the world will ever admit to unleashing this ? people have been eating wild animals for thousands of years, how come all of the other sickness cases that kill people every year are not reported like this or shutting the world down ? how come out of all the countries the ones LINKED to that "social system" have bogus reports ? no country in the world today is going to use nukes to take over or win...but a virus...well...kill off all the old people ( who it mainly is killing ) and that system already has little use for them, as they are considered a drain and not really contributing....nukes will just ruin the planet, but a virus...weaken and wipe out and confuse a good portion of the world and while they all stumble around blindly you put in all these changes for that systems agenda.

This is not to sound like an X-Files episode but considering these systems already execute their own people and are one of the countries REALLY to profit off this, it's something people should really give some thought to...especially their past actions with starvation of millions etc. It's very much within their interests and power to do so if that is their agenda.

And for the record I'm usually one who rejects typical conspiracy but this has the old CP written all over it.

It really does get tiresome doesn't it?

Wake up and smell the coffee folks, pandemics have existed since the beginning of human history. We just got really lucky there weren't any major ones between 1918-2020.

We were due for one of these, really (especially with the sheer overpopulation of the globe and the relative ease of travel between continents). It's nature's enema of the human race. We're just gonna have to keep our heads down and hope it recedes fast enough to salvage the economy. If anything, it's gonna result in MUCH stricter quarantining laws for anyone traveling abroad for years if not decades to come.

LAS CRUCES - The Doņa Ana County Commission approved a symbolic resolution calling on the state to reopen businesses deemed nonessential under public health guidelines meant to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

At its Tuesday meeting, the board of commissioners voted 4-1 to approve an amended resolution that calls for the reopening of nonessential businesses while emphasizing those businesses adhere to public health guidelines, such as physical distancing, wearing protective gear and extensive sanitization efforts.

District 3 Commissioner Shannon Reynolds voted no.

More: COVID-19 cases by ZIP code in Doņa Ana County

While the resolution passed, the commission doesn't have any authority to reopen nonessential businesses. That's still up to the state.

Some members of the small business community spoke out in favor of the resolution. Many showed up in person to deliver public comments, while an audience sat in chairs feet apart.

Some said small business owners were competent enough to adhere to health guidelines, as businesses deemed essential have done.

The resolution was brought by District 4 Commissioner Isabella Solis, who said she understood the health measures enacted by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham but sought a more concrete timeline for reopening businesses.

Chair Lynn Ellins of District 1 led a vote to amend the resolution, which also passed, that mentions the state should ensure it has adequate data, contact tracing and testing capacity before reopening businesses.

Currently, New Mexico's stay-at-home order, which closed nonessential businesses and limited gatherings to five people or less, will be in place until May 15. The governor has appointed an Economic Recovery Council to weigh how best to reopen the economy.
