All these hypocrite politicians telling people what to do and they don’t do it themselves , doesn’t help people take this seriously .

Geez, things are getting really bad here in NY. I really thought we beat this thing. We were doing so well over the summer. What the hell happened? I thought this virus was not weather based. So not sure why the low positivity rate we had over the summer didn’t continue. It just keeps getting worse!

I still say if we had one united message back in February, this thing wouldn't still be going at this level right now. But sadly that message was hoaxes and what not, so it went down the chain in such fashion. |

So many here wanted everything to open back up so quickly...but then some of us actually thought it through and saw this coming from a mile away. I think too many people looked for any sign that they could say 'look look, its going away...let's go back to normal' and they let their guards down. |

can weather/seasons play a role, yes but not as much for the virus as for humans when it is hot and sticky we naturally distance ourselves a bit more, we spend a bit more time outside..... Students (especialy universities and colleges) are more or less closed in the summer and open in the fall..... there is labor day weekend, thanksgiving, Christmas, New years... all of these are big extended family events that not everyone will cancel in the summer (at least here) there are festival and holidays but they tend to be communal (i.e. just for laughs, grand prix, Canada day show....) that were all cancelled so you can't have idiots that say those rules don't apply to me. the thing when things are bad* people get more worried and they take more precautions, when things get good* people assume the risk is gone and give up on those precautions. * the issues are a) good and bad are relative.in one area bad can be X cases/day in an other area with the same population it can be 2x or 5x or 10x that is considered bad and the place that hit 10x x might appear to be good. what is good /bad depends on how well the place is doing and with each wave "bad" and "good" keep on going up (aka "if in the previous wave we hit X and I was OK then X can't be that bad") b) what we see is the past not the present or the future, the person that dies of Covid-19 today is a person that entered the hospital days/weeks/months ago and the person entering the hospital today is the person that caught Covid-19 days/weeks/months ago. (and that does not even take in account the reality that most numbers don't get reported immediately. c) math and biology any disease like this will tend to grow geometrically aka usually describes as doubling every X days. but we are hard wired to think linearly (it makes sense in most other cases). lets' say the doubling is every week, 100 takes one week to get to 200, but if the number is 1000 it takes a week to get to 2000 and not to get to 1100 that would be hit long before a week has passed, if you are at 10k you will be at 20k add that to A) and B) the last thing is fatigue, "I have enough I need that cheat and the risk is low because it is a small cheat" but they all add up. |

obviously any date would be limited by by how long the test subjects received the vaccine, but Moderna vaccine confers at least 3 months immunity is good news. The longer the better |

The 9 ultra low temperature freezers have arrived in Ireland today for storing the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine at a temperature of -75℃.
The freezers will store the vaccines for a maximum period of 6 months. The freezers are being stored at a HSE Covid control centre in West Dublin. The actual location of this centre is not being disclosed for security reasons. When I looked at the pictures of them; they look really small & compact. I am surprised that they can hold 200,000 vaccines in each one given their small size as they look the same like a normal sized fridge. The daily cases numbers for the Rep. of Ireland have come back with the 100 cases being rectified meaning that the computer glitch on the HSE computer system has been fixed. They have recorded a figure of 13 deaths & 456 new cases. The 14 day incidence rate is 80.9 per 100k. In Northern Ireland; the number of hospital beds being used to Covid patients there has now reached 99% capacity. The 1st Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine to be administered in Ireland for mass vaccination will be given to the 1st recipient from 8am Irish time on Tuesday morning. The Press Association has reported that it will be administered to a Covid vaccinator at a mass vaccination centre at The Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. This vaccinator is part of an 800 strong team that will administer the vaccine to an initial chunk of it's population. Source: RTÉ News NI's healthcare workers will also begin receiving the Pfizer vaccine from December 14th. Also Russia has begun it's mass vaccination programme for it's Sputnik V vaccine today. However final test results from their trials have not been released yet to ensure it's safety of it. Last edited by dublinbluray108; 12-05-2020 at 05:53 PM. |

Just to let people know that despite Atlas (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post18088479) somewhat indirectly tarnishing the reputation of the medical specialty of diagnostic radiology with regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, many clinicians do rely on their interpretations with regards to CT scans, chest radiographs, etc. for their patients.
Plus, some academic radiologists, like the following, work on cutting edge scanning techniques to help better understand the disease and its long-term side effects, e.g. hyperpolarised xenon MRI - https://www.oncology.ox.ac.uk/news/h...d-in-new-study |

My sister and her husband are no longer contagious, according to the nurse from the health department. She told them that they would be immune for three months and if they did get it again it would be very mild.
Also, sadly, the niece of another brother-in-law passed away in her sleep last night due to Covid. She was 26. He and my sister will not be able to attend the funeral due to restrictions. |

Very deeply emotionally touching ... ![]() * I don't have much time anymore for non-essential activities; my friend is having cancer treatments in his throat, ... four more weeks to go (week #3 just finished last Friday). I won't describe the situation...it's not rosy. Besides, this thread is about Coronavirus specifically, not cancer. You gotta help the weak and old and sick ... your friend, your Dad, your Mom, ...your world. Just imagine if all Blu-ray members were working in hospitals right now; this place would feel empty. It's the toughest job in the world today. They have all my support. What can we do best to help them? Sacrifices...wear masks and stay home. Watch LOTR 4K trilogy, and The Hobbit 4K BR trilogy (first) in D Vision and Atomas audio. Watch James Bond entire franchise, watch Mission impossible entire franchise, watch Batman entire franchise...HDR. Watch Marvel/Disney superheroes entire franchise...Star Wars and Star Trek. ...HDR, or go home. Last edited by LordoftheRings; 12-07-2020 at 04:21 AM. Reason: Typo |
