Many other countries are doing huge campaigns for this, but I feel like America has really dropped the ball. Even companies like Google should be really plastering this simple message everywhere.

I also feel like there needs to be a ton more hand sanitizer stations set up everywhere too, especially in NYC
Something people may not realize is that you should be washing your hands with soap and water BEFORE using sanitizer. If your hands have any dirt on them, sanitizer will not be effective. It will NOT get under the dirt. I learned this from a public health nurse so I know that it's accurate.

Sanitzer is a good stop-gap when you don't have access to soap/water right away. But yes, not only dirt, but greasy hands too will not be effectively cleaned by a sanitzer unless they are washed first. That's probably not an issue for most people, and it should kill the virus on your hands.. Also, it's good to make sure your nails are trimmed since the virus can hide under there too.

Right, which is why I purchased a box of 100 gloves. I plan on throwing them out after each use A hundred gloves should last me through the worst of the crisis, if not, I'll order another box. They're only ten bucks.

I work in a busy place and I see guys still going for a poo or a pee and not washing their hands. Personally I'm pretending everything I touch has been smeared in poo.

Probably a good idea to clean phones/remotes/gamepads with antibacterial wipes or something because I gather those sorts of things are cesspits.

I gather as long as it doesn't get in your mouth or nose then you'll be fine. So just make sure your hands are washed before touching any food. Probably a good idea to avoid drinking straight from cans/bottles and consider who might have touched your food. Like apples. Did someone pick it up and put it back down? Did the guy at the factory wash his hands? People are dirty and cannot be trusted to practice good hygiene.

Put a note up in the restroom when no one's there, or say something (confidentially, of course) to HR.

They're saying people who have gotten sick have been told to isolate themselves at home - does this mean hospitalization is not required? There needs to be a full FAQ posted online somewhere people can reference for info. Otherwise you're going to get ER clinics everywhere inundated by people who are nervous because they sneezed.

From what I read, it's not. Unless you're old or have a compromised immune system or something, it's just to be treated like a normal cold. Stay at home and rest with plenty of liquids. Only in very severe cases (elderly people) does someone need medical attention.

However, my company has begun shutting down locations and stopping all employee travel between locations. Also, they want all employees who are going on vacations to do a two week quarantine at home before coming back into work.

About 20% of people who get end up needing to be hospitalized, but others are okay with self-quarantining, and riding it out at home.

You should go to the hospital only if you have pain in your chest and shortness of breath. Otherwise, treat it like any other flu. Stay in bed, drink plenty of fluids, etc.

The worst is when you're in a public restroom and someone takes a shit in the stall, comes out, and leaves without washing their hands.

Whyyyyyyyyy.

I'm actually surprised that India so far hasn't been affected greatly. So many places there are so densely populated, and there are many parts that are sorely lacking as far as sanitation/hygiene is concerned (not trying to offend or anything). I hope for their sake that continues, as it could really ravage that country.

Prayers won't do any good, get those test kits now and millions of them, don't sit on your ass with your monkeys ... do something, get out there working for the American people...this is not a drill or time to show your useless exhibitionism, get a grip, get the job done.

I really hope you don't actually think he has the virus, and you're just being playful. He's being overly melodramatic as per usual. This is the flu and cold season. People are sniffling, coughing, and sneezing everywhere, but no, MrHT is "screwed" because somehow he works in an office where everyone apparently has the ****ing Coronavirus.

Allergies causes sneezing and sniffling too. People assuming its the Coronavirus just from those are ridiculous.

Pretty sure India's under-reporting, or at least ill-equipped to know how bad the problem may really be. Having been there several times (including to one of the cities which now has about five cases, reportedly), it's impossible for it to have not spread to more people.

As far as countries go, New Zealand is doing pretty well. Only 1 red dot.
