This cannot be real. Does NY alone really have almost 30% of the amount of confirmed cases that China has???

Ok, someone please give me a reason not to panic....
New York has a very dense population. This is why it's spreading so fast. Because people are so close together everywhere. It's pretty terrifying. I've been saying for a couple weeks - wait until we start doing proper testing - we're going to be shaken up by the numbers we see. Maybe that's the only way we will start taking it seriously.

Which is why social distancing is so critical.

If you haven't already, you should read the below article I posted a little while ago.
But aren't you concerned that the U.S. (or even NY alone) will surpass China?? If that does, this is going to be a HUGE disaster!!!

Those numbers are increasing at such an exponential rate that I see that happening by next week. We are so F---ed!!!

I think it's really sad that we have to live life as if everyone around us has the cooties. Really depressing when you think about it...

No, I'm not concerned nor do I think it will be a huge disaster. More are being identified because we're now testing more people that have already been infected; remember the results to some of the tests are delayed by up to a week. Over the next couple of weeks those numbers should start to taper off given more people are aware and the effect of social distancing.

Except just when social distancing will start to show signs of improvement, they will start cancelling the lock-downs.

I believe we can still maintain social distancing and not have lock downs.

I don't believe that at all. We've seen how people have been handling this on their own. Social gatherings, spring break, etc.

We can't expect this to just go away by trusting that people washing their hands will be enough. It's not.

It's still pretty low when you consider the size of the population

Did FaceTime with the niece and nephew yesterday, haven't seen them since all this started. Spent most of the time playing Animal Crossing. When you're stuck in doors, it's the perfect game to play to take your mind off your troubles.

How is everyone doing?

Just trying to get through the days. Video games, 4ks and streaming are helping but I am starting to go a bit stir crazy.

Again I say, NY is not the most populated state. So it should not have the most confirmed cases.

I actually think my wife and I had it in February. High fever for 3 days, dry cough, bad stomach, exhausted as hell for a full week. Slept about 12-14 hours a day between night and day. Was gone in about 10 days with a lingering sore throat for about another week, but no further coughing. Just hoarse from it. Doc gave us strep test because if cough and fever, negative. Told us to take Tylenol and come back if chest congestion to make sure it wasn’t turning to pneumonia. Fever was brutal between 100 and 103. Tylenol took the edge off. No runny nose or wet cough. It came, knocked us out, and went. Doc said it didn’t match typical flu symptoms.

5 Florida College Students Test Positive for Coronavirus After Spring Break Trip

https://news.yahoo.com/5-florida-col...144800792.html

And these five college students, what were they studying?
How many people were they in contact with?

A pandemic is not something they teach @ school, unfortunately.

Nope, they don't teach you how not to be stupid at college.

Some girls I know know our state is pretty much locked down so they went to El Paso, TX to drink this weekend instead. You can't fix stupid.

Its kind of annoying amazon has a month delay on orders and its not even giving a no rush shipping credit with these massive delays. that's also ignoring the delays shipping companies are having. I don't even see a point in trying to order something when I wont get it for 6 weeks anyway.

I'm trying to imagine which things we're going to find annoying say one month from now.

Curfew, army on the streets, hospitals closed, amazon closed, internet closed, netflix closed, shortage of coffins, ...?

Or, social distancing no more in effect and everyone invited to go dancing nude on the streets and on the beaches?

No more Blu-ray players made (all manufacturers), no more 4K Blu-ray discs and regulars too (only DVDs), no more 4K TVs (only 8K), and theaters reopen (only showing Disney movies)?

I have zero clue what's gonna look like April 24, less than zero.
Anyone with a vision?
