You guys realize that you consuming the media like this is going to lead to more lingering issues than what you would get from the virus itself don't you? Things like depression, anxiety, and stress is going to be much more of an issue. Some of you are letting it get to you way too much. Yes it's bad but 98% of you will be fine. I'd honestly say that it's much closer to 100% since I doubt we have many members here above the ages of 65. Just relax guys, don't let the stress kill you in 2 years time.

Maybe not a majority of the planet, because there are only so many germ cells to go around. But experts have estimated half a million deaths worldwide (right now only 21k). They've said this is 10-15x deadlier than the flu. Flu kills about 30k every year globally. 30k x 15 = 450k. All this is "give or take." Could be a million, could be less than 500k.

It's not going to be even close to a million, not even close to 500k either. Relax.

Then you better pray for a vaccine to come soon. Covid-19 already killed 21k worldwide, which is already in the range of annual global flu deaths (12k-60k) and we are only in the early to mid stages of covid-19.

Interesting - I was not aware that crime had gone down. Makes sense; criminals may be afraid to commit crimes because they're afraid of getting sick from their potential victims - since, you need to get close to someone to rob/attack them. And, less people are out in public anyway, so - less victims to choose from.

I had an interesting incident happen about a week ago. I had to take a local train somewhere. And, whenever I've been on public transportation in the past homeless/junkie bums accost me & ask me for money. I never give them any, and in many cases they cuss me out when they realize this..but I typically (but not always) ignore them.

But, this time around there were more bums than usual - because I guess they have nowhere else to go. And, when one of them got close to me & asked me for money I got enraged and said, "Haven't you ever heard of social distancing, a$$hole? F%$% off." I typically wouldn't get that upset, but this whole situation has really put me on edge (as I'm sure it has many others) and I almost wanted him to start some crap with me - I was that angry. But, he just looked at me - and then moved to another car. Good riddance, prick.

What a stupid b$#%@. It's because of people like her that many out there aren't taking this seriously. Nimrod.

How do you expect people not to worry? I just posted an article saying that hospitals are now initiating a "do not resuscitate" order regardless of the patient's or family's wishes, just because they are weighing the needs of the dying patient against the needs of the staff and other patients. How can we not be concerned at this point?

I'm 50 this year. My girlfriend's mom and dad are over 70. My girlfriend's immune system is not 100% due to a chronic condition. I had whooping cough a few years ago and it put me through hell and my breathing was not right for months afterwards. So yeah this virus is scary if you're not 20 any more.

And I'm as much worried about the economy and how this will affect us socially as I am with the virus itself. Anybody who thinks things are going to be back to normal in a few weeks is delusional.

You're right that stress does not help things. But how does one avoid stress when they're facing job loss, worrying about the next time they have to go out for supplies, whether their parents/loved ones are okay, etc.?

And maybe if more people were following forums like this, we would actually maybe make a bit more progress, instead of so many still thinking it's no big deal.

I would have been scared of him getting mad at me and spitting on me or coughing at me out of spite.

But yeah, that's what's so scary about all this too - we have too much anger and hatred out there already these days. Now we have to start actively avoiding people and everyone fearing each other even more.

So what are the full details on the $1,200??? Is it based on a 2018 or 2019 tax return? Who's all getting one? Do we have to pay it all back next tax season? Do we sign up or will it get sent to us automatically?

Disagree with this. The virus is a very real threat, and is affecting everyone on an exponential level. Pay attention to the damn news.

As a bit of relief, here's a 4k code for The Hunger Games. Hopefully it helps someone who's going stir crazy right now.

So what's your crystal ball telling you? I'm curious.

Btw...just got off the phone with a friend who's father is dead because of it...and he has it.

So I'd love to hear how this isn't going to be that big a deal for people.

someone is trying to sell all 4 Hunger Games 4k codes for $30 in digital copy thread but I don't even think Lionsgate codes redeem 4k

Someone mentioned just recently to "not worry because 98% of you will survive".
..."Not too many people here over 65".

Who are the other 2%, our Dads and Moms, our grandparents, our best friends with heart and lung respiratory issues, asthmatics, etc.?
I'm worry not only about them but me too. The 98% that will survive I'm certain they are worry too about that 2% who we love so much.

I think it's normal to all to be worry in a pandemic, it's human nature...it strikes everywhere and right @ home in our families and friends.

Yeah I don't know if it redeems 4k or not, just trying to make this isolation a bit easier for someone else. The first documented death here was basically a skip and a jump away from where my father grew up.

You won't need to pay it back. Beyond that. I don't know the details. I'm guessing it will be based on tax returns files last year (for 2018). What happens for those who have no income/unemployed for 2018, and didn't file? I have no idea.

My guess is those who worked and filed a tax return will get one. those who didn't file due to no income - out of luck?

AFAIK, they get it as well. My grandmother asked me about that this morning and I looked it up. Even those on SSI are getting it.

What about those choosing to be unemployed and not on any government benefits?

I'd hate to see half my hick hometown given free alcohol/drug money.
