You don't catch the virus by breathing the same air as the infected person. And also, when an infected person touches something, the virus doesn't live that long and dies in a matter of 2-3 minutes. So why the heck is the virus multiplying at this fast of a rate? Is everyone spitting or sneezing into people's mouths???
Some reports indicate it can survive for up to 9 days on surfaces and it has an incubation period of like 12 days on the long end any action you take you have to wait 2 weeks to see its impact.

Nothing that was said in that post was accurate. Ir can spread of you're around someone who has the virus up to 6 feet away, and they can be asymptomatic and still spread it. The virus does survive for over a week on surfaces.

I wouldn't believe a thing that comes out of de Blasio's mouth.

Anyway, from the WHO:

Quote:
How long does the virus survive on surfaces?

It is not certain how long the virus that causes COVID-19 survives on surfaces, but it seems to behave like other coronaviruses. Studies suggest that coronaviruses (including preliminary information on the COVID-19 virus) may persist on surfaces for a few hours or up to several days. This may vary under different conditions (e.g. type of surface, temperature or humidity of the environment).

If you think a surface may be infected, clean it with simple disinfectant to kill the virus and protect yourself and others. Clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, or nose.

Long Beach cruise ship by Carnival (surprise, surprise) halted its disembarkation until a passenger completes a coronavirus test.

Isn't the Titanic II coming out in a few years? What could go wrong.

Right about now is a good reason for the rich to search for another planet and buy a ticket in the next spaceship. Oh, and don't forget to cash out your chips @ the door. ...Get out of the stock markets and don't invest in the next new charlatans selling miracles and vaccines and toilet paper.

If any of you have a spare hour or two, David Foster Wallace's 1994 article in Harper's Magazine - A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again (aka Shipping Out: On the (nearly lethal) comforts of a luxury cruise) is a great read on what it's like to be socially awkward and forced to take a cruise as a single and then write an article about it.

Ever since that article they sent Wallace on all sorts of weird adventures in hopes of him writing gold about said adventure. A good one is Consider The Lobster, in which he gets sent to a Maine Lobster Festival by Gourmet Magazine but ends up writing a scathing review and a giant rant against bioethics and consumption of meat (on assignment for a now-defunct food magazine), even though he is conflicted and eats meat.

Also, does anyone else read cruise critic forums/boards? It's kind of like a real-time view of the coronavirus spread, even journalists have started reading the craziness in hopes of getting a scoop.

Well, I’m sick right now. I don’t think it’s the Coronavirus but it’s definitely unpleasant.

It’s too bad symptoms are so similar to ordinary cold and flu. How are people supposed to even know and properly identify this if it spreads everywhere?

I think that’s the scary part. A lot of people that have it don’t know they do. And I think that’s one of the reasons why it’s spreading at such an exponential rate.

Someone brought a sewing/quilting machine on the Grand Princess. That's probably a decent way to pass the time for the next few weeks of quarantine in an inside cabin, at least compared to depleting Princess' video on demand library within 3 days.

So if they force you into a building for corona virus and then the building collapses and 4 people die does that count in the bad construction death toll or does corona virus get the credit?
