Regarding: Movie Theaters and Comic Book releases are going to start again.

My post from another website:
It's going to stop again. Everyone sees a little break in uptick of virus cases and feels like it's over. Well, China/Wuhan Province did that and closed everything down again a week later because cases skyrocketed.

We need a ONE Month full mandatory LockDown/Quarantine in effect.

Give people rent/mortgage/ utility/loan payment forgiveness for three months and close all businesses for one month.

Everyday I see (I live just off the expressway) hundreds of cars driving and going to walmart and other stores like nothing's happened.
It needs to stop.

That is exactly what I've said. So many people going out in their cars every day for non-essential activities out of boredom. Look, I don't like it either but it's shelter-in-place. Not shelter until I get bored and want to go outside and frolic like there's not a pandemic that's killing thousands of people a day.

i asked this earlier. how is a joyride worse than you going for a jog?

we really going with that "you might get in a car crash" route?

It can depend where you live and how you go out, in the U.K it's London and the south that are most affected, I would totally agree that anyone in New York should stay at home, but in more rural areas I am not so sure it's the same thing.

I go for runs for my health. People leaving the house to joy ride to do things because they're bored is not the same thing.

As far as testing goes, the only country I believe that has a test that is actually 100% accurate in both testing for it and if you've had it is Germany and yet no one outside of the EU is getting those tests despite being offered them on a number of occasions.

The US & UK both turned them down (the UK has done it 3 times now) because they wanted to profit off making their own, which is fair enough but....they both made tests that completely failed and are now reliant on imported Chinese tests that have also proven to be highly inaccurate. Less than 30% of them are giving accurate results.

I saw on Monday night that in New Jersey where they have a drive through testing site, cars have been lining up from midnight to get tests for the following morning or they miss out. They then have to wait 2 weeks to get the results. Pointless, they will be dead or over it by then!

Until they can streamline the testing process and find/start using a completely accurate test, what is the point of wasting all this time and money testing?

I heard one of the governors, either Newsom or Cuomo, say that it's fine to go out for an occasional drive. Maybe it was spoken without thinking, I don't know. But I don't see what the big deal is if it's not a long drive and not done frequently. Especially if that's what it takes to keep your sanity and your vehicle feels safer than taking a walk outside.

you didnt tell me how its safer though. you are more likely to infect others by jogging than i am going for a joy ride.

youre concerned with physical health while neglecting mental health.

youre so dramatic with the bolded. a test isnt going to save your life, you understand that, right? most people with symptoms are told to stay home and quarantine for the 14 days regardless and not given a test. if symptoms get very bad, breathing wise, youre instructed to go to the hospital where even there, you might not get a test. you are simply treated.

You shouldn't be going for a test if you aren't sick in the first place. So if you go for a test because you have symptoms then you're already around 5-10 days in. If you have the test at say 8 days in and have to wait 2 weeks for the results, then you will either already be very sick in hospital, dead or will be over the danger period by the time you get the results.

Went for a joy ride today . . . only kidding. Had to stop at the bank and then I wanted to check out a grocery store I have never been to; Smiths. Did the wait on line with mask and gloves, it took about 15 minutes before we were able to go in. Place was fully stocked but the prices were IMO high. But I was able to get fresh dill weed so I am in the process of making my famous homemade chicken soup. The store itself is too far to travel to. I will stick with Walmart and Albertsons which are just a few miles from home. No one way aisles.
