No one is going to a full movie theater for quite some time. And when that happens, it will be cause to celebrate because it means the risk has been reduced to the amount to allow that to happen. But I don't think it will be anytime this year, unless it's in a location with historically very few cases and low risk for more. Certainly not in the NYC area.

Over the summer and full, depending on where you live, there will be incremental increases in the allowable size of gatherings. I imagine that outdoor gatherings will have a higher ceiling simply because of the open atmosphere (where a sneeze cloud won't linger like in a movie theater).

Everything "we've" done? I've done the same exact things to help decrease the curve. But now it's time to let those who want and need to go back to work, back to work.
Didn't you say you would want to go to a packed movie theater? I'm in the same boat as you in terms of health, but that doesn't mean I would want to risk going into an environment where I could spread the virus, which in this case would be a packed movie theater. You might be fine, but you could be the cause of someone's sickness or even worse case, their deaths. Sounds very selfish and immoral. The more we think the like this the longer this virus is going to be a problem.

I'd wear a mask, not talk to anyone, and not touch anyone...everything would be fine.

I would hope only healthy people would go to see a movie right now. If I'm with other healthy people then everything is good. You're assuming once I leave I interact with a lot of people...I don't. I'm pretty much by myself all the time. We can't keep things closed forever.

The pandemic seems to be coming to an end here in NY. Our company just announced that our office will re-open and our work from home will officially end on June 1st.

Out of the 10,746 people that have died in NYC due to Covid-19 all but 66 of those people had preexisting health conditions. SIXTY SIX!...not 666...66!

The average age of the deaths in Massachusetts is 81 years old.

97% of the deaths in Italy we people 60 years of age and older.

We have to let the healthy people out and about so they can get the virus and gain herd immunity. Can't put stress on the hospitals if these people don't get symptoms enough to hospitalize them.

Do you have a source for those numbers?

If you had the virus, you could always have a cough attack, and masks aren't guaranteed to work. Whoever is in your vicinity is at risk. Just because you're nonchalant about this whole thing doesn't make it any less real. If you're so confident in yourself, maybe do something in the front lines to help. I'm sure they could use a few people with your level of confidence.

I'm probably one of those people who probably already have the antibodies. This virus was lingering in NY long before we knew it was here and I'm literally jammed packed in a subway car full of people when I was commuting to work everyday. I didn't start working from home until mid March. I had to have caught this thing at some point.

I take the E train everyday to work. No joke, this was how my commute was everyday...

Businesses Seek Sweeping Shield From Coronavirus Liability Before They Reopen

Quote:
WASHINGTON — Business lobbyists and executives are pushing the Trump administration and Congress to shield American companies from a wide range of potential lawsuits related to reopening the economy amid the coronavirus pandemic, opening a new legal and political fight over how the nation deals with the fallout from Covid-19.

Government officials are beginning the slow process of lifting restrictions on economic activity in states and local areas across the country. But lobbyists say retailers, manufacturers, eateries and other businesses will struggle to start back up if lawmakers do not place temporary limits on legal liability in areas including worker privacy, employment discrimination and product manufacturing.

The biggest push, business groups say, is to give companies enhanced protection against lawsuits by customers or employees who contract the virus and accuse the business of being the source of the infection.

People have heard a lot about the separation of powers, to include from a certain governor in regards to a State's powers. So, then let me ask, why should the Federal government have to send unemployment aid IF a State refuses to open their economies back up? After all, we do have the separation of powers. Shouldn't that be a responsibility of the State and the State alone?

Yes, we're all aware that coronaviruses have existed long before our time, but just because coronaviruses are naturally occurring doesn't mean that the pandemic started naturally. Do you have the data that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that it naturally spread within the Wuhan wet market?

Most scientists will tell you they don't know when the spread originally started, where it started let alone who was patient zero.

Do you have undeniable data that proves it began at a wet market? That theory is nothing more than speculation at this point.

No state has met 14-day drop in cases for reopening

Quote:
As a handful of states begin to ease stay-at-home restrictions, no state that has opted to reopen has come close to the federally recommended 14 consecutive days of declining cases.

Even as the U.S. hit the grim milestone of more than 1 million cases Tuesday — one-third of the world's total — Georgia, Minnesota and other states are pushing to reopen businesses, even though new infection rates are still rising.

Some states, such as Colorado and Kentucky, have reported fewer new cases in the past week. But no single state has had 14 days of decline.
