You know those things don’t expire, right? I have a 30+ year old thermometer in my house. How do people not already own thermometers?

I had a digital one, but I can't find it. I think you overestimate how many people have them. I really haven't had any need for one at any point in my life till now (an even now It's not an absolute necessity). I'm sure people with kids have them, but I don't think the majority of people have one, but maybe I'm wrong.

You’ve never felt sick before? It’s how I decide if I’m sick enough to go to the doctor. If I have a temp less than 110°F I takover-the-counter stuff, if it’s over 110 then I go to the doctor.

Every house/apartment I’ve ever been to has them, I know because I have a habit of snooping in medicine cabinets when using bathrooms.

I rarely get sick, and even when I do, I don't usually get a fever, or anything.

You’re lucky then. I use to never get sick in my youth, but at around age 26/27 my "super" immune system decided to get lazy and become a "normal" immune system.

Well President Trump, who originally thought the virus was overhyped, has declared a national emergency. So yeah, we have a very good reason to freak out!

meh...just because it's been declared an emergency doesn't mean there's a reason to freak out.

i function just fine in society. i just choose to let something like this dictate how i'll live my life.

as well, the media is to blame for a lot of the panic. they're pushing all the right buttons on those who put too much faith in the media. and that's their problem...not mine.

Great read. I agree with it, though it's going to be tough to fully implement. A place like NYC especially, it would be impossible to essentially lock down. I'm glad we've enacted a lot of social distancing practices, which will buy some time, but it isn't enough.

Damn, what's so scary is how a virus that started half-way around the world could spread like this. It's quite shocking!

What scarier than that is wondering how much toilet paper will be bought up in a major crisis. It’s sad that this has already hurt the economy more than 9/11. Just sad.
