Well I think that's going to be the case here, under 60 should be back at work for the most part soon. Over 60 means continue to shelter in place and hope for the best.

I'm over 60 and haven't missed a day of work yet. Seven days a week every day since the pandemic began.

Here in the UK right now, people are on an 80% Furlough Scheme where the Government is paying workers on a typical employment rather than the employers unless they want to top up the remaining 20% (Most don't obviously) and once that scheme ends, i can guarantee you without a shadow or a doubt that job losses are coming because the demand for a lot of goods and services simply will not be there or consumers have changed buying habits and so on.

We are heading for some really bad economic pain down the line towards the end of the year probably worse than anything the 2008 Financial Crash led to and i think some people just can't see that atm and they are not adjusting their lifestyles in preparation for that reality.

I was looking to get "Back to Work" when things resume but i don't think things are looking good for typical jobs across the board. We've already seen huge job cuts announced across multiple sectors and there's board meetings being had right now across the globe about that stuff and when to finally tell their employees. The flood of job losses is yet to come as the dam brims and readies to burst.

I’m actually surprised how the number of new cases continues to go down here in NY. With the increasing amount of people ignoring social distancing rules these past couple of weeks, I was expecting a bit of a spike by now.

Honestly, if people want to enjoy a little sunny weather and don't want to feel locked up in their homes, I think it should be ok to go outside for a couple of hours wearing a mask and take a walk in a non-busy area during a non-busy time. If you wear a mask and keep your distance from people, the risk of transmission is slim to none. But picnicking in a crowded park or sunbathing at a crowded beach, on the other hand, is a big no-no.

Now, this is just how I feel as I can certainly understand how by now people would want to get out and enjoy a little sunny weather. But of course, I forsee someone replying to this post and verbally attacking me.

I decided to go to the grocery store late last night because I needed some things and I thought there would be less people...yeah I won’t do that, again. I took a shower right after.

Wednesday will be the first time in months you can eat at a restaurant, but you will have to dine outdoors. Restaurants say the announcement came as a surprise and places with patios are excited to finally begin reopening. Places like Flying Star Cafe are thrilled.

“We are definitely pretty excited,” service manager Ryter Griego said. “People have been asking us for a while if they can come sit on the patio.”

Tuesday afternoon, they learned the governor gave restaurants the okay to open patio seating effective May 27. “It was a surprise but a good surprise,” Griego said. “We have been getting ready since the beginning to reopen.” Under the revised public health order, restaurants can start serving people at outdoor tables at up to 50% of their outdoor occupancy rate.

State announces soft reopenings for dine-in services beginning Wednesday
Tables must be spaced at least six feet apart and no more than six people can be at a table at a time. “For our patio, we are looking at 20 guests on the patio,” Griego said. “We will have someone counting people at the door. After sales dropped 85% during the pandemic, Griego said they are ready to welcome people back.

“I think it will help us a lot,” Griego said. “I think we will see a pretty big spike in people just wanting to come in and sit down being we are one of the few restaurants that does have a patio.”

Restaurants that don’t have outdoor seating, like Azuma Sushi near Paseo and Wyoming, are out of luck. “There is not so much we can do,” Mitchell Griggs of Azuma Sushi said. “We just have to wait and do the best we can do in the meantime.”

While Griggs said it is a bummer they can’t reopen Wednesday, he said they were not expecting to open until Monday anyway when the governor previously said restaurants would likely be allowed to reopen. “We are doing what we can with to-go orders and deliveries,” Griggs said.

Everyone said they are ready for Monday, the governor’s target date for people to be allowed to dine back inside. “We are just excited to be finally getting back to some kind of normalcy,” Griego said.

Bars are still closed under this revised order, but the governor said bars are also on target to reopen Monday under limited capacity. The governor’s office said this will not apply to Cibola, McKinley and San Juan Counties due to high risk of spread there. The New Mexico Restaurant Association is also asking restaurants in Dona Ana County to consider not participating in this soft reopening since transmission rates in that area are still high.

Did Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham play by her own rules during the public health order? KRQE News 13 has learned in April, when she ordered non-essential businesses to shut down and lectured all New Mexicans to stay home, a non-essential business opened up so she could buy jewelry and have it delivered to her.

In early April, Gov. Lujan Grisham stressed that New Mexicans needed to stay home and should only go out for essential items such as food. She also announced that all non-essential businesses were closed. “We are in really tough financial times as a state. It mirrors the incredible, personal sacrifices that happen every single day because people have limited their ability to work, telecommuting and many people, in fact, have lost their jobs,” said Gov. Lujan Grisham on April 3rd.

However, just days after the April 3rd news conference and a week before Easter, KRQE News 13 has learned that Gov. Lujan Grisham called an employee at Lilly Barrack on Paseo to buy expensive jewelry. The jewelry was bought over the phone, but the employee went to the store, got the jewelry and placed it outside the door of the store where someone who knew the governor picked it up. This is according to the person who runs Lilly Barrack stores. She says she didn’t know about it until after it happened. She also said no one was allowed in the stores at that time due to the public health order.

The governor refused an on-camera interview but has a different version of the story. In an email from a governor spokesman, he says that “Lujan Grisham did call an employee, saying they had a longstanding personal relationship. The employee came here [Lilly Barrack], got the jewelry and took it home, left it outside their home and then someone came and picked it up.”

The governor’s office first said it was a campaign staffer, then later told KRQE it was the governor’s friend, but wouldn’t release a name. They also said the transaction was entirely contact-less, remote and permissible.

The spokesman also pointed to the governor’s order at the time stating “none of the state’s public health orders have restricted the conduct of business operations in which an employee only interacts with clients or customers remotely.” However, that same order also states it requires the closure of physical retails spaces and doesn’t mention anything about home delivery.

In a time of non-essential closures where curbside was not allowed, KRQE asked if home delivery was okay. The governor’s spokesman said it was not a home delivery and businesses were encouraged to find creative ways to conduct business safely. He also added the store was not opened for the governor and stated that “turning the key inside a door to ‘open’ a store wouldn’t violate the order…” He also said non-essential businesses all across the state let employees in to do inventory or clean.

Other businesses like Mark Diamond’s Jewelers did not interpret the orders the way the governor’s office did. A manager at Gertrude Zachary says no one was allowed in their store and they wouldn’t even risk it because of a fear of fines. They thought online sales through shipping was their only option, but they got zero customers and lost hundreds of thousands in sales.

KRQE News 13 asked about the two people who left their homes to get jewelry to the governor. Her office says this was an unusual transaction and while “of course the governor has been telling people to stay home to the greatest extent possible, it also true she’s been urging New Mexicans to find ways to support local businesses.”

So could you have called up a store and received this kind of service during the pandemic? The governor’s office says if a New Mexican has that kind of personal relationship with a local business and local businesses are trying to operate creatively to keep themselves and their employees afloat while staying safe, certainly this kind of transaction could have occurred.

KRQE News 13 also talked to the manager of Ooh Ahh Jewelry in Nob Hill. She said they did online sales only with one person in the shop who shipped orders out and didn’t do home or curbside deliveries because it wasn’t part of the April public health orders. Curbside delivery wasn’t allowed until May 1.
