I kind of wonder if my internet service provider will be able to handle all of this sustained extra demand upon their network. People will have lots of time to not only stream, but to play online video games and to engage in social media. Streaming providers and video game servers might have fun handling the extra load, too.

Not that it matters much for me if there are internet or server problems. I have a fair amount to watch on disc so long as I do not lose power.

Maybe a breakdown by age range for those infected?

That was my initial guess but I thought children were pretty safe with seniors being the most at risk but that would mean those 35-54 are most at risk.

Children can still be carriers although it appears they're less affected by the virus.

I highly recommend reading all that is on that page - from the CDC

People will buy more of whatever they are already buying. The virus will hurt sales of physical media in stores, but not online shopping.

Xbox Live is down right now in various places. I expect more outages will follow. I'm very curious to see if Netflix or other streaming subscriptions will be affected.

As a Vegas worker now indefinitely laid off, my Blu-Ray buying just went down to zero. If this drags on more than a few months I’ll be forced to sell it all. Good times!

Your temperature could actually be lower and therefore it may not be broken. I've had that happen before at times when I've been sick.

In all seriousness we are all in this together. The CDCs recent update suggests Keeping any gatherings of 50 people or more apart for the next 8 weeks. There are many who don’t have the capability to work from home and therefore will not get paid. The bills won’t close. This whole thing is surreal and life changing for sure. I just hope if this does extend past these initial two weeks our cities will remain civil with each other. The other thing to consider no matter your religion this being the sign of the end times. I wish all who frequent this site and this forum well for safety and healthy endeavors!

Sorry to hear that. Myself and tons of others could be jobless in the upcoming weeks. Staying positive though although this shit ain’t looking good at all.

Yeah, that chart doesn't make any sense. First of all, no children from ages 0-18 have died from the disease. In fact, people ages 65+ are at most risk. So how can children be more at risk than seniors who are 65+??

That chart is stupid. I would assume those are the percentages of people who have tested positive for the virus, not theven percentages of people who died. Would be nice to see the uncropped chart.

Its a chart of the US population by age. Not a virus infected population in the US chart by age, nor a virus fatality population in the US chart by age.

He mentioned it later on this very page. Maybe a few more people will quote it for giggles.

So it's a meaningless chart...this thread should be shutdown, people are posting nonsense.

Schools closures were the first step. Here is the second:

Quote:
SANTA FE, N.M. - The New Mexico Public Health Secretary announced new restrictions to restaurants and bars that would limit occupancy in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Secretary Kathy Kunkel issued the emergency order on Sunday.

Beginning Monday, March 16. all restaurants, bars, breweries, eateries and other food establishments shall operate at no greater than 50% maximum occupancy and no greater than 50% of seating occupancy.

Additionally, no more than six patrons will be allowed to be seated together at tables or booths and all occupied tables and booths must be separated by six feet. Patrons also may not be seated at bars and standing patrons will not be served.

The public health order also prohibits gatherings of 100 people or more, but includes exemptions for shelters, retail or grocery stores, courthouses, correction and detention facilities and hospitals, among others.

All casinos and horse racing facilities must also close until April 10. Casinos operating on tribal land are exempt from the provision.

“The best thing New Mexicans can do right now is self-isolate and limit person-to-person contact,” said Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham in a press release. “We all have to pull together in this effort. Keep washing your hands with soap and water regularly. Stay at home. Remember your neighbors and buy only what you need when you are shopping.”

Once again IMO . . . it's not enough. I understand that no states want to decimate their small businesses. But these namby-pamby restrictions just aren't going to accomplish what is needed to contain the virus.

I would rather see 2 full weeks of total lockdown and accept the damage, which the Fed can help alleviate, then instituting half assed measures like these.
