Almost 50% (248,000) of all the worldwide deaths are from North and South America alone...the Americas.
More than 25% (128,000+) of all worldwide deaths (501,000+) are from the US alone.

The outrage and indifference to a minor inconvenience like wearing a mask for the sake of public health is ludicrous when it such a little ‘ask’. Out of respect for others, Asian cultures have been mask wearing when conditions prompted it long before the corona virus pandemic. Even the youngins like 3rd and 4th year med students don a mask during their surgery rotations without whining, even though in some cases they stand for hours applying hemostats and such.

Actually, CDC guidelines were just recently tweaked this past week to place age at the forefront of consideration - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...er-adults.html, rather than emphasizing comorbidities so much like in past.
Asian cultures wear masks correctly though, a certain candidate for POTUS in a CBS interview last week talked about mandating masks in the US at the federal level while his mask was falling down his face.

The effects of a society wearing masks incorrectly, can be perverse.

From the EU CDC:

https://www.ecdc.europa.eu/en/public...rope-ecdc-menu

When you have science that's of low certainty, any claims of effect must note as much or ones scientific integrity must be challenged.

From The Lancet, reviewing 39 masking studies: "our confidence in the effect estimate is limited; the true effect could be substantially different from the estimate of the effect"

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/l...142-9/fulltext

The science on second hand smoke is of high certainty, so comparing the two is misleading.

This isn't meant to be political, so I apologize, and please delete if it is, but Cuomo actually had a funny moment showing how poorly so many people wear masks.

I could understand if you have it there while eating, drinking, or smoking, but some people just have it on like that all the time, or have it below their nose. It's frustrating to see.

I do have one interesting anecdote with regards to intentionally wearing a face mask improperly as a sort of compromise. I have a friend in Japan, and at his local gym, they have people wear masks under their nose. So this is still covering their mouths, protecting from any deep exhalations, and this allows them to still breathe easier than if the mask was covering their mouth, and nose. I think this is a fair compromise that should potentially be implemented here for gyms, if it hasn't yet.

I don't know why gyms here don't require them if you're not running because I'm betting gyms are the first thing most states are going to shut down again.

Those are the ones I use. I ordered a 4 pack of red and a 4 pack of blue, along with the flowery one my mother made me that I have for emergencies, that should be enough.

Yes environment and lifestyle can play a small role in getting diabetes (how much will depend on the type), but it is mostly genetic.

the irony of this is that a real breathing problem would mean the ramifications of catching covid-19 can be even worst, so you should be even more careful.

Yeah face covering are supposed to block the droplets from coming out of your mouth. Very little would come out of your nose and those that do will be directed downward. So yeah, good compromise for gyms, especially on treadmills.

I do kindof wonder if reason why can't wear an over the ears face mask besides left ear bigger then right maybe its due to small head I have when I was a baby doctor thought head wouldn't grow drew lines around head

I don't know I guess see what happens when I get those wwe facemasks this coming up week whether or not I have to used the adjustable ear loops

I've been back at the gym for 5 weeks now. The last 3 have mostly been in outdoor group classes. But, the days I'm in the gym...they do a great job of keeping members distanced and the facility clean. There are numerous disinfectant stations (and I see members using them).

BUT, besides staff and indep. trainers that use the gym, the average member does not wear a mask. As of tomorrow, the gym is requiring members to wear a mask anytime they are in the gym (under the new city ordnance that takes effect on Monday). I bet the owner is taking a big sigh of relief, since she sent a "request"(not a requirement) to members to wear a mask just last week.

I can only judge based on my time in the gym after the email...no impact on members abiding by her request, which was disappointing.

I'd bet that ppl will show up tomorrow without a mask...we'll see if it generates at viral moments. (pun intended )

They also have masks that attach behind the neck and the head.
Those don't fall out.

* I have a bunch of masks that I can't wear because like you they just keep falling, detaching from my ears. It's not so easy to shop for the right masks. No one has the same facial/head proportions. And our ears vary too.

Anyway the ones I got first were simply too small. I perfectly relate to what you just said.
I'm waiting for more masks to come...in the next delivery.

I wonder what experts like Dr. Fauci would say about masks in gyms.
My best guess is yes, wear masks covering both your mouth and nose.

Me, I think gyms are the last places I want to spend my time during a pandemic.
I'd rather go canoeing or kayaking on the ocean or in the rapids on the river.
Or go mountain biking in mountain trails. ...Or around remote lakes.
Or go surfing on waves (ocean).
Or go snowboarding on mountain tops.
Or lift weights @ home, in the gym or the garage.

Well, my experience leads me to believe otherwise.

According to the health experts, I needed to be taking two 500 mg of Metformin... Plus insulin shots, but I refused and changed my eating and I’m now in the 87-103 range 2-3 hours after a meal. Without the medication.

The health experts think 250-300 carbs a day is acceptable... As long as you take the pills they they can make money on. No wonder so many people struggle to maintain decent blood sugar levels.

https://diabetespac.org/wp-content/u...ds-768x577.png

Bad genetics has always existed, but it wasn’t until the 1980’s that diabetes started to get really out of control.

I think these messures would be somewhat more acceptable if we knew a cure was coming for this. But we don’t. The CFR might be as low as 0.5%.

Yeah, I get that there are complications from the virus outside of life or death, but unless we get lucky and it just dies out or there is a cure, I think we will have to deal with it just like we have throughout history.

But, hey.... Nobody is changing any bodies mind here.

I’m mostly a homebody, and I do most of my shopping online now anyway.

Not sure he can afford to be too snarky.

There was low certainty as to the value of therapeutic synthetic corticosteroid in the beginning but since the risk of their use was considered low as to its potential helpful effect, hospitalists used them prior to more challenging robust proof - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...s#post17759067

I don’t think so if you consider the significant morbidity and mortality consequences of an acute short term exposure to secondhand smoke as compared to that of the same few minutes long exposure of being too close to a non-mask wearing person spewing out a viral load of coronavirus and one potentially becoming infected thru them because it is uncertain how one will respond, e.g. mild or no illness to end up being in ICU - https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2020...cu-ventilator/

Again, I find it ridiculous that there is even a debate in this country as to such a small ask as to wearing masks/face coverings.
