Proven itself to work? Most states are mishandling it, 32 states are seeing a rise, 14 are kinda stabilizing and 4 are declining. I wouldn't call that proven as a good thing. I think at this point all but 4 states need to utilize stricter protocols to force idiots to exercise better judgment.

Interesting. It's working very well in NYC. Perhaps those states don't have strict protocols like NY does?

Though I'm actually surprised it has been working well in NY since I see so many businesses not follow proper protocols. So many outdoor dining places have tables scrunched together as well as waiters without masks. And I recently passed by my barber the other day and I noticed he stopped using gloves. I'm now hesitant if I should even go back to him again.

Gloves do essentially nothing. I haven't used them since April, maybe? Wash your hands in between clients and you're fine. I really don't see anyone else using them either.

Dude, it doesn't matter. Let's talk real life. If anyone from this site walked past me in the street, I wouldn't know it. I assume the same holds true for you?

So why would complete strangers (in real life) impact your day like it seems to here? Should it matter to you if ppl always disagree or agree or even respond to your comments?

It shouldn't. Only you can allow posts to impact you in real life.

Lastly, let me throw out this suggestion....don't post your opinions or comments. Sometimes, I'll type out a post or a response to a post and just delete it. I realize it can be taken wrong or taken as I intended it () and negative responses are not worth it. Time on BR should be viewed just as any other downtime. It's entertainment or distraction that we use to fill the gaps between real life. If it stops be entertaining or a pleasant distraction, then you shouldn't be spending time doing it.

I type and delete all the time. Perhaps 1/3 of everything I type doesn't get posted (and some of what I post I delete right after I post it). Most of the time it's a reply disagreeing with someone, and then after reading it I realize it's not worth it. It's not a waste though, since typing it out helps to clarify it in your mind.

Way to go! Dude just pretty much said masks were optional!
I've been wearing one every day I go out.
Doesn't matter if it is 5 minutes or 5 hours.
I don't trust others to not get me sick!
unless you have a N95, and even then might not even be worn properly, then others NOT wearing a mask can still get you infected...masks are only used to stop YOU from infecting OTHERS

please show me where anyone disagreed with phased re-opening. you were commenting on one person who said that HE thought that barbers/nail salons maybe shouldnt be open yet as part of the phased re-opening.

you take things out of context frequently....

now, this isnt a fact, since facts are hard to come by with this whole pandemic. but i think that becuase NYC was hit so hard early on and had a hard shut down, they are doing better. much like where i am in CT.

now the other states getting hit hard now are basically just going through what we went through a few months ago....expect their numbers to come down in similar fashion to NYC/CT, assuming the states being hit hard now actually "shut down" again and enforce masks....

Covid aerosol transmission has always been a thing. Maybe the WHO is downplaying it, maybe not. But they certainly don't say it's a non-issue.

As the scientist said in the video, the mostly likely cause of aerosol transmission would occur near someone's "cloud" of aerosol. I would assume for a reasonable amount of time as well. This same situation is what the CDC defines as "close contact". So going into a grocery store it's not going to be an issue unless you're near other infected people for 10-15 minutes.

In an crowded enclosed space like a bus or subway with no ventilation, that would be the most likely way to get it from aerosols, other than face to face close contact with an infected person. Face coverings really wouldn't help much in this regard, but of course they would block the droplets.

Droplets are the main source of transmission which is why you'd think governments would do more to make people minimize the risks when they leave their houses. For all the great work people think our governor has done(ha!) she has yet to really bring the hammer down to force masks to be worn. I know people get violent over not wearing them but too bad, people need to follow the rules or stay home.

FDA warns against using 5 more hand sanitizers found to contain methanol

Quote:
The US Food and Drug Administration has added five hand sanitizers to its list of products that have tested positive for a toxic chemical.

These additional hand sanitizer products tested positive for methanol, which is a substance that can be toxic when absorbed through skin or ingested.

The FDA's discovery comes just two weeks after the agency advised consumers not to use nine hand sanitizers manufactured by the Mexican company Eskbiochem SA, because samples had tested positive for methanol.

Exposure to significant amounts of methanol can result in nausea, vomiting, headache, blurred vision, permanent blindness, seizures, coma, permanent damage to the nervous system or death.

Anyone exposed to these hand sanitizers should seek immediate treatment, the FDA warns.

The five hand sanitizers added to the FDA's list are:

Grupo Insoma's Hand Sanitizer Gel Unscented, 70% alcohol
Transliquid Technologies' Mystic Shield Protection Hand Sanitizer
Soluciones Cosmeticas' Bersih Hand Sanitizer Gel Fragrance Free
Soluciones Cosmeticas Antiseptic Alcohol 70% Topical Solution Hand Sanitizer
Tropicosmeticos' Britz Hand Sanitizer Ethyl Alcohol 70%

These have all been manufactured in Mexico as well.

Good informative, caring fellow. Anyway, food for thought, and speaking beyond CALIF. county or state confines and addressing other states - be it a paucity of testing kit ingredients (reagents, swabs, etc.), masks, gowns other PPE, ventilators, ECOMO machines, etc., - if there were a true federal national response like with something akin to WWII, these are all inanimate objects that can be manufactured fairly quickly depending on complexity, if there is motivation to do so.

BUT, you cannot quickly train more doctors, nurses, RTs to handle what can come if things become higher than “knee deep” as Tony says, as this takes extensive didactic lecturing as well as experience which takes time given the skills involved – decision-making at the M.D. level, monitoring, even operating vents by RTs, etc.

It depends of the province, of the Coronavirus, of the preventive measures, who goes and who don't go (kids with health issues, etc.). This is a new world we live in and each day to the next, things change @ paste so rapid that we cannot keep up with. Everything is pretty much up in the air with new developments, readjustment, ...a new re-adaptation on a daily basis. It's like we are experimenting but with extreme safe measures. If we screw up we pay a very high dear price. It's tough, very.

Kind of hard when it becomes a "MrHT vs. other Blu-ray.com members" war. Literally NO ONE agrees with me and EVERYONE disagrees with me and it makes me look like a fool. So a moderator may come by, sees everyone mad at me and I can get into big trouble as it makes me look like some sort of troll.
