I don't want to misinform or mislead in this thread, just offering an anecdotal POV. We had a "Safer at home" order, but it never felt like a strict lockdown. Most media company offices went remote practically overnight, so it makes sense podcasters would feel a bigger impact, same with YouTubers and other producers.

Either way, it looks like most school districts are going distance learning until January at the earliest. Districts were initially going to force teachers back in with little to no safety precautions, but thankfully all the teachers pushed back with their unions. With a teacher shortage, there isn't much the distracts can do. |

In Marin we would be doing just fine, except for a couple of problem areas. The Canal area, which is mostly Hispanic and high density, is a hot spot, as well as the San Quentin prison. In fact, Hispanics here now account for 78% of the cases, even though they are only 16% of the population.
I would imagine the poor and minorities everywhere, that live in high density areas with little control over housing capacity, are accounting for the lion's share of cases in all these hot spots around the country. |

Also weather is not nice, it's brutally hot at record temperatures here in New Mexico and will be for awhile. Just one of a few reasons I don't see people flocking to restaurants to eat outside right now.

Just got back from the dentist to fix a filling that fell out.
Figured it was better to do it now than a few months from now when cases likely to rise higher. They limited number of patients, made you wash your hands when you showed up, questionnaires....all the employees were wearing masks etc. But let's face it, if my dentist was infected I'll now be infected. Period. Just another day of rolling the dice. |

A recent Reuters article about the potential importance of memory T-cells for long term immunity, and the possibility that many may already have immunity from prior coronaviruses (from colds, mainly).

Chances are the dentist gets it from you or other patients. Different people breathing directly on the dentist for an hour at a time for 8 hours a day. It went from a relatively safe occupation to top 5 most likely to get infected overnight. Many dentists have installed UV lights, HEPA filters, electrostatic sprayers. They are paying through the nose to get N95 masks for them and the hygienists. Quite a few have enacted extra covid/coronavirus cash fees to cover the costs because most dental insurance doesn't pay if they were to just increase the cost of their basic services. |
