Honestly? I don't have enough home weights to properly do upper body lifting away from the gym. I still don't think it's safe for gyms to open, which is why I've started doing my 3-4 runs a week outside, despite the heat.

Our province went into stage 3 and has steadily been decreasing in reported daily cases so that put me at ease.

So when are gyms, theaters, museums, indoor dining and malls opening up in NYC? New cases still continue to decline here. It's been over five months since the have been closed and we've already reach phase 4 re-opening! How long are they going to continue to be closed? Until they are forced to shut down due to financial situations??

No not really because many indoor places are opening here in NYC. And not to mention, out on Long Island, EVERYTHING is open. And cases still continue to go down. There seems to be no evidence that keeping these places closed here in NYC will keep cases down. As long as these businesses have mask and social distancing requirements, it should be ok. That seems to be working elsewhere, so why not NYC?

Didn't you guys argue with me at one point in time about how we shouldn't keep the economy closed forever? You guys realize that these businesses are accumulating debt as they are closed. Eventually they may have to close down permanently if the business cannot bear all that debt without any income. And sadly, that is happening to some restaurants here in NYC. |

I would also say I've seen the protocols for just New Mexico State University. Even with masks, kids aren't supposed to be packed butt to butt in the hallways anymore. So disturbing lack of masks isn't the only violation there.

as trying to curb morbidity and mortality among her classmates and teaches rises to a higher level of importance than some rule a superintendent can dig out of a school manual used to validate the suspension, but really represents an effort to hide/reduce the school’s poor decision making with regards to safety. As an excuse, the superintendent also referenced, out of context, a CDC guideline - https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...endations.html |

Daily case 7 day average on 8-7, is at 55,490, down 15% from a week ago and 20% from a peak of 69190 on 7-25.
A strong trend and certainly good news, which for some reason is getting very little press in the mainstream media. They can't ignore it for much longer. Deaths too look like it may have peaked, but still too early to tell. Normally deaths lag cases by 3 weeks, and it's only been two weeks since cases have peaked. 7 day average is 1047, down 4.8% from last week and 7.3% from a peak of 1129 on 8-4 (3 days ago). |

Let's say for disease X a vaccine works on 90% of people the 10% that it work on will be protected by the other 90% (i.e. if Joe can't ca5tch it and give it to Bill, Bill is now protected) But herd immunity depends on many factors 1) can there be immunity (with some the answer is no because your body does not create antibodies 2) how well does immunity work (can the person still spread it while being protected) 3) how long does immunity last (for some it is permanent for other it can be very short lived. 4) how contagious is the disease 5) what other measures are in place. |
