Start shaving your head, like I do. That way, getting your hair cut is one less thing you'll have to worry about going out & doing during this virus.

I’m having better luck in the smaller stores like Kroger than Wal-Mart. My WM was starting to get low after the Wednesday travel ban announcement. That’s when I really started to notice the “Black Friday” like atmosphere. WM has been bare since then at least from the times I went. I’ve been seeing Kroger trucks on the road. Market Street began having limits on water today, 1 gallon per person. Best time to go is at the crack of dawn after the overnight restock. I was able to get a can of Lysol and paper towels this morning at Market Street and then some cheap toilet paper at a Kroger this morning. My coworker had luck at Kroger as well with the TP. I know those stores aren’t in every region but maybe there’s some that are similar to those.

Default So about the Coronavirus.....

How many of you have held off on preorders or buying movies in-store, on Amazon or eBay because of the pandemic? Are you saving that money to buy supplies instead? If you’re still buying them explain why.

I have some things pre ordered at Diabolik that I payed a while go with PayPal (like the Gamera set) but other than that I’m holding off on other pre orders for now. As far as new releases go I’m not planning on picking many, probably like 2-3 & that’s it. I have a couple coming in from eBay but they were cheap (like $5-$7). My movie & game spending will certainly slow down for the time being. My son turns 4 months old this week so making sure I have everything he needs right now is more important than buying movies.

I held off on buying discs for the meantime. Need to save up in case of a real emergency. Are studios even going to ship discs to stores at the moment? No one will even be able to buy discs if they wanted to if the stores are closed or if they’re quarantined.

I have a pre-order for April Fool's Day right now and once I get some more money at the end of the month from selling some stuff, I'll be placing more. I want to stay on top of the stuff I want as they come out and not fall behind.

I was going to get the individual 4K releases of the original & prequel trilogies but will be holding off for now.

Same. I have enough unwatched movies to keep me busy for a while.

WM will be running on reduced hours to be able to restock. I'm sure all 24 hour places will be doing the same.

0600 - 2300 for WM.

I'd go in now if you are looking for stuff since I'm sure lines will be forming outside of stores as these hours are rolled out. Also if these stores would have implemented limits on items then all this hoarding crap wouldn't be so bad. I'm glad that guy that bought all that hand sanitizer is getting investigated for price gouging.

I went to the Hollywood Amoeba Records this past Saturday for my monthly or so shopping spree. Lighter than normal foot traffic but it was also a rainy day which probably accounted for some of it. Bought a few used Blu-rays, DVDs, CDs and a couple LPs.

Seeing as it's likely *all* people State if not Nationwide will be urged to stay at home for a couple weeks and non-essential stores throughout California will follow San Francisco's example in the next few days and shutter as well as Amazon (and the US postal system in general) looks to be drastically slowing down shipping (wait times even with Prime are close to a week now), I'll probably not buy anything for several weeks if not a month or more.

I have a few items I bought a week ago through Amazon UK and Amazon Japan that I have no idea when or if they'll make it here.

Most of my pre-orders were placed before the severity of all of this was apparent, but I have still placed a couple of pre-orders in recent days.

Why?

1. Small boutique labels that have given me joy over the past several years are going to need business now more than ever.

2. Because I am in denial and am trying to cling to some shred of normalcy.

3. Because all of my running races and concerts are being canceled fir the foreseeable future, and I’ll have more free time.

4. Because I’m as well-stocked on supplies and food as I can possibly be for the next three weeks or so without buying another fridge/freezer, and because I’ve got some money saved up in the bank that I won’t touch unless my health depends on it.

5. Because I’m struggling to get my mind around this just as much as anybody else, and making flawed logical decisions as such.

I mean, the pre-orders have been for small purchases that I can swing. As much as I’d like to shell out $399 for a Dark Force Entertainment membership, for example, I cannot justify it right now, but a $24 pre-order of something else is doable.

My issue is I’m not making any money, because my job has closed. And so, I can’t afford to be careless with money at the moment.

Plus, I have medical bills for a recent femur fracture surgery.
