Looks like national lockdown measures are going into action as early as Monday in the UK. Hopefully it’s enough to curb the latest spike pretty quickly, although in my opinion it is much too late.
My work place came up with the daftest suggestion ever. I’ve been working from home for the past two months now, and our region is in the highest tier restrictions in the UK at the moment, and we were informed yesterday morning that one of the few members of staff who still needs to attend the office has tested positive this week. So I got a message last night saying they wanting to bring staff back into the office at least one day a week just to “mix things up a bit” and asked if I’d consider doing it. I said hell no, with some good reasons to suggest that’s not a good idea. But I’m honestly confused why you would suggest such a thing when you had sent out an e-mail stress the importance of following government guidelines (which say working at home as much as possible) after someone has caught it the very same day. |

I was told that it may be up until Wednesday before I can get in. I was in close close contact with someone who’s dear to me and tested positive yesterday and is ill. I had gone to the store for her, but have to self isolate now and can’t anymore. Gonna ride it out and hope I don’t get any symptoms. |

What's everyone doing for tonight's Trick 'r Treaters?
Normally we have a big house party which obviously we're not doing this year. We're going to setup a table just outside our garage door with candy and hang inside the garage and just ask them to take one treat bag each. Hopefully some jerk doesn't come along and just make off with the whole thing. |

as to why the bad numbers there are many reasons luck (i.e. not really in anyone’s control) -- Montreal is naturally very close to NYC, a lot of our early cases started off from events like weddings, business trips... that came or went to NYC -- Spring break here is extremely early it was March 1-6 at the point where decisions needed to be made (aka back in the end of February) Covid-19 was not yet classified as a pandemic and it was burning mostly undetected in many places, people coming back from vacation ended up spreading it. -- being of Greek descent, I know in Greece old age homes are mostly anathema, here all my dads friends for over a decade have been asking him why he lives with us bored in front of his computer when he could be in a residence surrounded by other seniors enjoying his life. bad decisions -- Quebec thought it would be a good idea to keep hospital beads for for people that are not in residence and to add a bit more medical personal and equipment where it is needed in residences. that ended up being a terrible idea, while hospitals were doing OK residences where burning up with covid-19 when Joe came back from spring break with his family and and gave to his loved one in the residence and then the loved one to everyone else in there -- talking about residences both public and private chains have a lot of floaters (people that don’t always work in the same residence) they continued with that idea way too long and so this ended yup spreading it from one elderly care facility to an other. -- Quebec closed down very fast (first to do it and at the time Ontario and BC looked worst) but unfortunately it was way too late (people coming back from spring break had already started spreading it in silence). But then the government also started opening things way too early and then opening too fast different realities -- not making excuses, but not every place counts stuff the same way. And so some numbers are more conservative (i.e. lower compared to reality) or less conservative( higher compare to the same reality). Every “normal” year the number of deaths tend to be relatively predictable and so there is what is called the expected death range. Everything above the max expected death range is statistically referred as excess deaths. According to StatsCan Jan/Feb there were no excess deaths anywhere, for the rest of the months in their analysis Quebecs covid-19 deaths where a bit higher then their excess deaths on the other hand Alberta and BC the excess deaths were a lot higher then their covid-19 death count. They did not have Ontarios numbers when they did the analysis and as for everywhere else there were no excess deaths (i.e. it could be a bad year but at that point it was not yet an abnormally bad year when it comes to death). |

Yes I am assuming there will always be flights from Montreal to Europe, like you say what other choice is there. But do you assume there won't be in the future any movie theaters, restaurants and small businesses? in the past I have flown to Europe on Air Canada, Air Transat, KLM, Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways.... why do all of them need to continue existing in your mind? |

This behind the scenes may be difficult to watch, but I think it’s important for those to see with regards to the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences. It takes its toll on everyone –

We mentioned vitamin D in the past; there's nothing wrong mentioning it again and even if not all scientists agree or not. For the majority of people vitamin D won't kill them, it might help the ones who are short of it, and ahead this winter with less sun in the rainy and snowy skies across several countries...North.

Penton, my two sisters are nurses, and one of my brothers was (two of them just retired, 64 and 65).
I was a nurse assistant in my teens, and we know first-hand what it is to have patients dying in your hands. I could tell several extremely sad stories, but I won't. I can relate 100% to what the nurse had experienced in your above video. Except this time around they're dying of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). |

According to WHO, they gave a warning about India on a second big wave; December/January?
If you follow what's happening in India (I do), you understand why. I believe you do too. • https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/...onavirus-cases In India, practicing safe distancing and wearing masks are not the norm.
