But if you didn't know that wasn't how it was supposed to be it wouldn't jump out at you as an error. We are talking about something that lasts less than a second.

It lasts for 18 frames, or 3/4 of a second, or about double the time of someone blinking. It really doesn't matter.

Nope. That cover has him in the airlock, not the service corridor, and he’s heading out into space.

My confession is I've watched this disc about 10 times since I bought it, and I still couldn't tell you if I have a botched disc or not. By the time we're at that sequence, I'm mesmerised and never remember to look for it.

Well I think most people will agree that is not the point.
We all should want to have the correct version and it has been established this is faulty. Maybe you can't tell now but one day you might.
A bit same as, do you need to upgrade to a newer transfer when the only time you will be able to tell the difference if you compare the screencaps on dvdbeaver?

I ordered the Titans Of Cult from Italy, comes out next week. Much cheaper than the French one.

Duly noted, you are correct. They took Dave from one shot and transposed him with another background. I couldn't really say. Maybe a deleted scene where he realized he left his car keys in the pod...?

Doesn’t have to be the Queen’s English... the American version is fine.

Very true, but it's not like it's going to suddenly go OOP*. I can just pick up another one when I feel the need. And I live in the UK so, as far as I know, there was never a replacement offered.

So on the first 4K Blu-ray disc release from October 2018, there were a few extra frames added between the scene of the space station conversation and the shot of outer space that were never seen before, and immediately cuts to the next scene instead of fading to it? And these extra frames weren't in the original 1968 theatrical release or seen on any previous home video releases were they?

I just learned, from this thread, that there was briefly a faulty version of this disc on the market (I know, I'm very late to this news), but that it was replaced, quietly and quickly, for a corrected version which can be bought via the major retailers. I'm looking at ordering the 4K from Bullmoose online. Would they be likely to have the corrected version? They're not a huge corporate entity like Amazon, which is actually one of the many reasons that I order from Bullmoose, but I do want to make sure that I get the corrected version.

Yes, there shouldve been a fade and instead it was a straight cut. Fades arent; present on the negative and are added later in printing, so the extra frames wouldve been under the fade out.

Since I'm planning to get the Stanley Kubrick 3-Film 4K Collection, the UHD disc for 2001: A Space Odyssey in that set should be the corrected disc right?
