This is because it is being decoded inside the PS3 first.

Also make sure you are selecting the correct audio track on the movie itself. Then hit the "display" or "select" button on the PS3 remote, this will show you what audio is being played.
Hey bud, i did exactly as u said i understand that all, but the problem with this yamaha 663 is that it doesn't have a multi channel selection. On the tuner knob i can choose a multi channel label but for whatever reason this receiver doesn't let me change anything the way the onkyo's used to like dds or dts or cinema, stuff like that. Also, when i ran the auto calibration, the first time a warning came out saying f/l speaker was out of phase, then i ran it again and it said the wiring was off, then i did it again a 3rd time then it said all the front speakers are off. I went out and bought expensive banana plugs and thick monster cables...guess what, still saying the same crap and nothing is sticking to gether. then my back left surround speaker made popping sounds twice. I checked the wiring i don't know how many times. These receivers are always giving me issues. Any ideas?
