There's a reason the UB900 thread has less than half the pages of the 203, people are too busy enjoying their movies. ![]() |

I'm watching it on the Sony 75X940D which is HDR enabled. By default both backlight and contrast on this TV is set to max in HDR mode. I want to experience with more movies. The highway scene at the beginning of Deadpool immediately comes to mind because it has the same kind of clouds/sky as the scene I mentioned from Pacific Rim. I haven't tried turning down contrast on the TV and leave the contrast on the UB900 to 0. Might wanna play with those settings too I guess. |

Pacific Rim does run a bit 'hot' in UHD, yeah, the highlights in particular. It still looks AMAZING but just pop in the BD and compare a few scenes with the UHD (with contrast back on 0

Just got this player last night and like it so far. I ordered Pacific rim 4k so should I leave contrast at 100 on my e6 OLED or turn it down to see more details? It was calibrated but reading the post where he turned the contrast down in the player got me thinking I might need to for Pacific rim.

In HDR mode, my pro calibrated E6 is 100 OLED Light and 100 Contrast, Brightness 51.

Leave both at 100, reducing the contrast on the TV wont fix the white clipping. You have to lower it on the player. But you don't have to lower it on every disc either.
If you want to play with settings more HDfever had some suggestions on sharping adjustments. They bumped the High Frequency to +4 and the Intermediate Frequency +1. I like to tweak it a bit also. Some good pics here on some of the sharping effects. http://www.hdfever.fr/2016/07/07/tes...nic-dmp-ub900/ They also found the Panasonic processing to be superior to the Oppo 203. |

The 203 is an unfinished product...work in progress.
This was just a preliminary: http://www.hdfever.fr/2017/01/01/pretest-oppo-udp203eu/ These Frenchmen do a good job testing those new 4K BR players, chapeau! |
