I do not expect the two free 4K BD titles with the US edition. As of now our allocation is due in mid - end of August.

I don´t see a reason to do it, since 4K Ultra HD discs are region free.

Will be to play other region standard Blu-rays.

I thought about it also but I'm gonna keep hold of my UD7007 for region A discs. Don't fancy placing a 3rd party firmware on the UB900.

I've used the same MR firmware on two or three other Pannys thus far and it's been great but yeah, I've still got a modded BDT310 for region A duties and so I don't need to do anything to the UB900 just yet. There's also the issue of the constant official firmware updates for such a new player, if you load that over the modded firmware then you lose it and need to apply the mod again in a revised version, I've got no idea how that works within the "donation" structure of that site.

Anyway, I watched the US John Wick on the 310 the other day and thought it looked superb, so there's still life in the old dog yet.

The Panasonic DMP-UB900 Ultra HD Player is on my want list for my next Blu ray player. Have they hit BB stores yet?

Yes, I was brave enough to do this yesterday. I swapped my Onkyo 646 for a Yamaha V681 receiver (which has DTS:X out of the box). Both my DTS:X blu rays were Region A, so I wanted to test these.

Region switching for blu rays works flawlessly. It now means I can retire my Region A player and unclutter the TV cabinet a little, not to say get rid of the transformer brick I had to keep close by to use the Region A player.

Let us know what happens if you need to update the firmware, I'm yet to hear from anybody how the regionfreedom scheme works in that regard i.e. you've paid for it once, do you need to pay it again to get an updated MR firmware? Or do you just drop them an email and they send it FOC? (remember, loading a new official firmware will overwrite the modded one)

I've used this firmware on several Panasonic BD players but I've never had any need to update the firmware on those, but with new firmware coming all the time for the UB900 (understandable because it's so new) I'm wary of the MR mod right now.

I was told by a Best Buy representative that they no longer sell Panasonic in home theatre because they need to make space for other manufacturers i.e., Vizio, Samsung, LG and Sony. Very unfortunate since Panasonic makes very good products....
