I ordered this from Value Electronics and it's arriving tomorrow. Can't wait to check it out based on all the positive feedback. I've tried the Xbox One S, which had stuttering issues on a few discs, and the Samsung which I was never a fan of. I think this player will put both to shame.
Based on the appearance, it looks like Panasonic took plenty of time designing this machine. It looks solid. |

There are some disc manufacturing issues going on too, and I think some drives are more lenient than others (I saw stutters on the Samsung, the Xbox S and now the Oppo). The Panny seems to be more reliable.
I am not sure if Pannys relationship with PHL helps them here or not. Hopefully disc manufacturing will tighten up in the future. For the $$$ spent as an early adopter, this is ridiculous. |

Also been several that have not had issue. Bourne has been a problem in many ways for several players, I wonder if that disc didn't have manufacturing issues.
I'm just getting mine set back up, I am sending the Oppo back so I have not done any real evals on discs since early Nov. I've been keeping up with the threads though, and like I said I saw the lip sync complaints, but then others did not have any issue. Ive only used Amazon with my Prime stuff and Netflix UHD, and both worked fine. Good PQ too. |

the only 3 players to support it are the oppo 203, the new LG and philips new model this is why i have both the UB900 and the oppo 203 in my setup! im pretty sure the oppo will destroy those other 2 players in picture quality plus the build on the oppo 203 is incredible. Panasonic and samsung for the time being and most likely till next CES next year WILL NOT support dolby vision. yes we can talk prices here. |

You sure have the best of both worlds in your setup, the sharpest picture quality today with your 900, and excellent audio too, and a vision towards tomorrow with the 203. * The new LG 4K OLED TVs are very cool, thin cool. Panasonic 4K HDR OLED ... |

Watching Sully tonight in the 900. Im having banding or audio sync issues and blips in the Oppo with UHD and HDR to SDR. 900 puts Sully off without a hitch Im done with the 203 and will re-eval DV players when I get a DV OLED.

If the Disney UHDs have DV then surely everybody will have to support it fairly quickly and that would mean a new version of the UB900 from Panny. Right?

Not so sure. Only LG and Vizio seem to be ALL IN on DV. Sony has it on their displays, but no mention for their UHD player coming. Panny does not have it, and it is assumed the Oppo will get it first qtr. So manufacturer support is not ALL IN yet.

Also, Sony wasn't advertising that the Z9D had DV chip equipped, probably due to some agreement that until their contract is finalized or something. We don't know for certain if the Panny is the same way. |

But there is also the fact that Dolby Vision UHD blu-ray discs will have an HDR10 base layer, so even if there's only a single Dolby Vision UHD SKU for x movie then Panasonic players and TVs will still be able to play it back in HDR.

Yep!
My new display arriving Friday will likely not be able to be cal'd for DV, but will have a pretty good HDR10 calibration, so I may find I only want to use the HDR10 version anyways. Accuracy matters a lot to me. |
