No. If I press 'stop' then I get the other splash screen but upon ejecting (or indeed pressing 'Home' on the remote) it goes back to the home screen. Which, incidentally, looks like this on mine:

Just got mine yesterday. Updated the firmware to 1.69 and watched a little bit. Got to play around with it just a little; but I want to put up a detailed review in the next few days, also going to hook it up with another Darbee.

First small impressions on an OLED E6 are; SHARP. Had a couple small bugs also which I'll go into later. But does look like an improvement over the Xbox and Playstation.

Now with news that DV is software based capable, is it safe to say that theres potential for the UB900 to get DV in a future firmware upgrade?

Just got this player today.. Wow PQ is amazing.. Much sharper, better colors, better contrast, deeper black and atmos/ dts x sound is more punchy compare to xbox one s atmos /dts x beta.. Not saying xbox one s bad player, but this player is on another level.. I'm so happy UB900 works well with my budget tv

When I first got the UB900 I too noticed a big sound improvement in my system, I am now able to hear an insane amount of detail in my usual run of movies I didn't notice before. The soundtrack score has an improved soundstage and sound effects/vocals sound clear and effortlessly. The player is a real treat.

Anyone think the price on this may drop once the Sony and LG come out around $300?

Not sure about a price drop but Best Buy has been selling them open box for $375 lately with 1 year warranty. Not a bad price.

So far been playing with it. A nice sharp picture. Does seem to be a hair better than the Xbox. Very slightly sharper, slightly more contrast detail. Will run some more side by sides soon. Standard blu ray was also a bit better.

However the biggest benefit is, by lowering the contrast you can finally fix the clipped whites on LG OLED's. A good example is in this article here.
http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/dolby...1606214303.htm

I lowered my contrast by -4 and finally the clouds (around 25 minutes in) were no longer clipped in Deadpool. Looks so much better now. Otherwise, no amount of adjusting OLED Light and Contrast level will fix the white clipping problem.

I would recommend anyone else to try it out.

Also hooked it up to a Darbee to play around with it. If you want to run a Darbee with it you have to set it for 1080p otherwise of course it doesn't play well. I can't wait for the 4K Darbee later this year.

Had one small lip sync bug with Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Also had one freeze on shut down. Both errors shortly after I updated it. Otherwise been playing perfect. Also an ultra quiet and quick player. After about 10-12 discs not a single pause or skip. Even the X-box would have a small stutter on The Revenant sometimes.

I'm running the SDR conversion but I too put contrast to -4 on certain discs, those from Sony in particular which seem to run a lot hotter than the standard Blu-ray when using SDR.

When watching Sony discs, yeah. With the SDR converter at the default level (0) highlights look much more blown out on those than the regular Blu-ray, whereas all my other UHD movies have noticeably more highlight detail at the default level, not less. So I adjust Sony discs down using the contrast control and up my backlight by one notch to compensate for the slight reduction in brightness.

And, incidentally, what grood describes is a good example of just how LG's HDR10 mapping works: in order to preserve as much luminance as possible they clip the brightness past a certain point instead of tone mapping the entire HDR10 range down to fit.

Yep, if you have Shallows (SONY) you can notice the heavy clipping in the wave highlights. Deadpool, (SONY) the clouds above the freeway scenes. Or Pacific Rim (WB) where the helicopter lands with Raleigh (the main character) It's a tone mapping problem with LG's. For the most part, this fixes the problem. Some discs have the problem more than others.

When Panasonic has its future update you will be able to further tweak the brightness with a daylight mode adjustment. Idealy they would use a daylight mode/ gain adjustments slider which would be the best case.

When Dolby Vision UHD's come out, this problem goes away. Now that DV is software based there is a real possibility Panasonic will add the DV feature.

Also curious about the other updates this player has down the road with regards to 10 bit mode.
