I've been watching Netflix shows directly through my TV, but yesterday I decided to use my Panny UB900 instead. I watched three episodes of Suits, and the HD upscaled by the player looked pristine. A massive improvement IMO.

Unfortunately one of the downsides of an edge lit tv, returned a couple TV's like this as it was very distracting during night time viewing. The salesman told me when I returned it that that was some of the worst flashlighting he'd seen on a TV.

Bought an Oled and no more distractions just perfect blacks.

I have a Sony 930D 4K LED TV, it's thin. It does not have that problem with light bleed. I guess it all depends on the brand and model you get. I might get an OLED TV in the fall, in no rush as I don't mind the TV's I have now they are 4K's and are modern enough.

I had a 930C and it had a little flashlighting in the corners.

Only so much you can do with sidelit, and certain things are what they are.

If your TV has any sort of local dimming in the settings. Turn it on.

That's a nice set, I am sure you enjoyed it. I have two 930D's one upstairs and one downstairs. I'll keep an eye out for any noticeable light bleed, maybe I just never paid close enough attention despite not seeing anything.

I only saw it during letterbox movies in a dark room, other than that it looked great.

Just purchased the Panasonic 4K Blu-ray PLayer. Hooking it up tonight.
Too bad it does not support Dolby Vision.

I have read many reviews and posts here about the UB9000, which helped me decide to get one.

It could support DV one day if Panasonic decides to add it in a firmware update.

I own this player and it's amazing. No regrets about buying it early before the OPPO came out. I'm hearing the 203 is not a better player anyway.

Here's hoping Panasonic will add DV in a future firmware update. The logical side of me thinks they will.

The Oppo 203 is a fantastic player, it is more user friendly than the DMP-UB900 as is the case with most Oppo players. Still the UB900 has a little better picture quality, it's not something most normal people will notice though. TBH you can't go wrong with either player, both are fantastic.

Yep. Ive had the 203, have the X800 and 900. All are good, the 900 is still my fav especially since they added 10 bit support.

I just wish their Netflix app offered the resolution and bit rate popup like other models.

Nope. The display requires a physical hardware chip to decode the DV data from the source.

Nope. If the SoC has the juice, DV can be added via software, does not require a special chip.
