Makes me wonder - given the inauspicious launch of the Samsung player in a Santa Monica retail store - whether the real blitz is yet to come. It all seems so low-key that this has gotta be a soft launch, what with all dat UHDA certification stuff only having just been laid down. I think the majority of the manufacturers are waiting for all the ducks to be lined up in a row before pulling the trigger on UHD Blu, especially on this side of the water. |

Are there any
4K passive 3D projectors out there ( presumably by LG since theyre one of a few ( i think best) in the game of passive 3D. If so, id he saving my pennies for a mid level projector. I'm sure 4K uhd blu-ray will firmware update most or all players for 3D support after the fact- as the PS3 did- makes no sense to alienate a possible segment in the uhd marketplace- particularly when 1) you just need a firmware update and 2) 3D movies will still be made. Who doesnt want to see 4K Avatar 2&3 at home & 3) why turn off a possible segment of 3D fans whom you need for uhd to suceed? |

I agree that Panasonic's 4K BD player looks great and would be the a/v enthusiasts choice, but as of this moment Panasonic has not announced or agreed to bring them into the USA. So for now it confirmed for some EU and Asian countries.
Hopefully, Panasonic will go ahead and launch the UB900 in the states. -Robert |

Ack, if only it were the other way around. If I could walk into a store and buy the Samsung right now for $400 (or the £ equivalent thereof) I would, I'd gladly trade you guys getting the super-expensive Panasonic deck in return! Seems like the markets are back-asswards with regards to which players are getting released in which territories.

Not sure why they wouldn't. America must be one of their biggest markets. |

I wouldn't be surprised if Panasonic is PO'd that Samsung is coming into the U.S. market at such a low entry price. It makes selling a player that is probably 2x in price much more difficult.

IF it was 600 then I'd be tempted to spend the extra over the Samsung. It would go well with the Panasonic DX902B would push total cost up to £3,400 for for both
![]() Those in the know, how does this compare to the samsung. Pros cons? |

Panasonic has discrete IR codes for power, as in IR code for On and IR code for Off. For digital video NR there are user settings including Off. Has front panel display. Samsung only has IR code for power Toggle. No user settings of digital video NR (always on). Has no front panel display. |
