Has anyone on here experienced that the player just randomly turns off during playback?
I'm watching Interstellar atm and the player has turned off twice at seemingly random times. By turning off I mean the player actually shuts down as if someone pressed OFF on the remote. Panasonic DMP-UB 700 with latest firmware.

Never experienced a random shut off, I have the UB-900.

Nothing like on my 900 either. I think it's gotten faster at loading after these latest firmware updates too. If only they hadn't ****ed 480i playback in the process.

Same here. I'm a long-time owner of the 900, and have experienced no random shutdown issues.

Could it be caused by a control writhing HDMI power settings? Are you using a Logitech Harmony remote paired with an Amazon Echo or Google Home? Perhaps something in the movie is triggering a power toggle command?

On another subject, does anyone know if Panasonic will be adding "Movies Anywhere" to the selection of streaming services available on the player?

Thanks for the feedback all. It hasn't happened again but I've seen some HDMI handshake issues and a crash as well when playing regular blu-rays since then. The player is rock solid when playing UHD but seems a little finicky with normal blu-rays. I might have a dud unit.

Is the Panasonic still regarded as one of the best upscaling players? I'm watching Godfather II and it looks so much better than any other player I've ever owned.

Anyone here using their UB900 with a JVC RS line front projector? My display was recently calibrated by ChadB (for both HD and UHD) and he made sure that the UB900 settings were ok, but I'm always interested in discovering new info from users. For example, I haven't messed around with the HDR slider.

The 4K Upscaling on this is pretty much the best I've seen for 1080p content. 480i DVDs aren't great though, I've got other players which do a better job.

Sounds like your cat or dog is sitting on the remote

I just noticed this setting over the weekend myself! Watched Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 UHD and set the Dynamic Contrast to Medium and wow did it make a difference! Turning it off made the picture so much darker and less vibrant. Definitely leaving it on, but will have to swap back and forth with the settings while playing different content just to see if it improves every disc or just live action ones...

Hi folks
Does anybody tried to playback the BD-R TL (100Gb BDXL) discs on the UB900/UB700?

I haven't tried because I don't have any BD-R TL media.

But I can tell you that the Panasonic plays UHD BDMV structures from a BD-R DL (BD50).

I don't think it's the player, it's the higher resolution in general. DVDs doesn't look too good on my UHD blu-ray player and TV either, due to the fact that DVDs are only 480i. DVDs look the best when they're upscaled on a 1080p HDTV, not on UHDTV for sure.

Mine is just numbers also, and depending on the disc I have it at 0 or 2

Hi grodd,

can I bother you with a few questions?

Which settings, media and software did you use to burn them? I have tried burning BD-RE TL (100 GB) discs, but the player wouldn't read them. Can you also confirm this?

Regards,
