Sony "Mastered in 4K" Blu-ray Titles May 14 and July 16

That's correct. 2.0 will also handle the new H.265 spec for 4K instead of the older H.264.

Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't these just the existing encodes which we're already released on BD and sourced from 4k? I am not sure there is anything new here except the labeling.

Ghostbusters, Spider-man, and a few others were not sourced from 4K so there should be some visible improvements. I'm banking on Ghostbusters being the most significant upgrade of the ones listed.

These should be the titles that were already sourced from a recent 4K master:

The Amazing Spider-man
Totall Recall
Taxi Driver
Battle: Los Angeles
The Other Guys
The Karate Kid (2010)
Angels & Demons

As you said, Spider-man, Ghostbusters, and Glory all used recent 2K masters instead of 4K so they'll be the ones to get whether someone isdouble dipping or buying them for the first time.

The encodes will feature a higher video bitrate than the original releases, to compensate for 4K upscaling (very slight difference in PQ when viewing at 1080p resolution depending on screen size) and will feature xvYCC, that extends the colour gamut, but people will only benefit from that, if they are running equipment compatible with that feature.

As you said, Spider-man, Ghostbusters, and Glory all used recent 2K masters instead of 4K so they'll be the ones to get it whether someone double dipping or buying them for the first time.

Glory and Ghostbusters are both coming up at $14.99, but you're right TAS is coming up at $28, haven't checked any others.

Very interesting... I think my display has xvYCC (although I am buying a new display fairly soon) and I am pretty sure my Oppo player does. Not sure how to get it calibrated for that though... Another thread.

I'm definitely in for Ghostbusters, and possibly Spider-Man (2002) as well, even though this will likely be like my 4th or 5th time buying each of those movies . Those are the only two of the current crop that I'm interested in.

Even if there was a difference with "The Amazing Spider-Man" compared to it's existing release, I wouldn't bother with it since the film wasn't that great in the first place.

I presume if your display has been calibrated for Rec709, you shouldn't need to recalibrate for use of the extra gamut, but to be honest I do not know. Take a look at this thread:
