I am still stuck in the Oct 2012 time and am posting from the past through a time gate. Seriously, I haven't read every single post on this very long thread. Still I don't think there is any harm reposting key pieces of information.

Yes, ask him about it with Camera rolling. A good extra feature for a blu ray release

I will leave you with this, we are talking about another film not NOTLD.........but this conversation is relevent to this thread regarding screen caps and this is from an film expert:

" I've watched the first hour. As always, the usual suspects have done their damage - they've used screen caps to wreak havoc and cry to the high heavens about BLUE TINT and whatever they cry to the high heavens about. Another textbook example of why screen caps should be abolished from every forum."

Again this is talking about a different film...........move on my friend move on.

It's like people want to play tom hanks in The Da Vinci Code.. Night of the living dead style.

I, for one, would love to see this thread deleted as a dead horse can only be beaten so many times.

almost 100% of the time those screencaps are DEAD accurate and the masses just accept garbage in. just look at the dark knight. the screencaps were awful and STILL look like crap outside the IMAX scenes and people eat it up

The whole debacle about this situation was that it was put out by Twilight Time with their limited edition method, ensuring that there wouldn't be a recall and possibly a new master made/used for a blu ray. I would guess that if Sony put this thing out, there would've been enough preassure to actually get a different transfer (look how many times it's happened in the past for other titles).

I guess its an undead horse that needs a double-tap.

I still like the blue blu. I always thought the original was too bright. Certainly in favor of theatrical versions of any movie being made available though.

I had never actually seen this movie until the controversy over the blu ray, just assuming it was some crappy remake. I went out and got the dvd new for 5 bucks. One of the aspects of the film I found interesting was the fact that it started in bright daylight. One of the uninteresting aspects was that the guy who played the crazed dad who wants to hang out in the cellar was an even bigger ham then the actor in the original film.

The fact is NOTLD 1990 Savini Endorsed blu-ray is blue tinted.

The fact is NOTLD 1968 Romero Endorsed blu-rays are cropped.

Yes, if people continue to accept garbage then they will get garbage.

Both are two different movies, but both suffer from Lucas Revisionism and both are endorsed by their respective directors. Hence why I am mentioning both releases. Draw your own conclusions.

rdodolak, don’t know who that is and don’t much care as I think he’s/she’s simplified the issue to extremism almost like some people wanting to ban all guns PERIOD because they kill people.

I’ll quote someone else whose judgment regarding screenshots and their validity you can trust. This person is currently employed at a major post production facility in the L.A. area and has daily first-hand experience (including on Saturdays) with film transfers.

“If screenshots, stills, frame grabs whatever you care to call them are correctly created, meaning that there is direct digital 1:1 with high quality decoding including the correct color matrix along with no resizing or any additional processing and they are viewed on a correctly calibrated display with 1:1 pixel mapping –

Then, they can be extremely valuable to judge color along with shadow and highlight detail, digital sharpening, some grain/noise reduction artifacts, some compression artifacts and the general appearance of the movie with regards to things like contrast, focus and film artifacts.

Those characteristics which would require motion for complete evaluation include some grain/noise reduction artifacts, some compression artifacts and flickering.

There are some excellent frame grabs posted on the world wide web which are accurate and worthwhile as an objective means of evaluation with consumer grade displays or monitors and you don’t necessarily need a reference monitor to do so. On the other hand, there’s also been some junk exhibited on some websites which are not reliable samples of the Blu-ray movies.”

Hope that helps to put things in perspective.

I still say anyone who is taking screen caps on an internet forum as gospel needs their head looking at, as do the ones who defend it.

" Again it is like listening to high end audio down a phone "

Again i will point you guys in the direction of my Baraka sceen grabs, do they look good on your displays? are they accurate no......
