My HDMI cables are old. I know people say it shouldn't matter, that it should still work, but I've had these cables for a long time and never had any issues on my previous Sony BD players. If I were to get new cables, what would you guys recommend? Does it matter which?

Put the unit into standby, make sure there's no disc inside. Press and hold the yellow, blue and OK buttons on the remote. A diagnostic code will come up on the display, keep pressing right until you see 08 FIN. Press OK and that'll do a hard reset.

The UB400's are starting to show up. I wouldn't take anything at face value on this review site, but has some photos and a few interesting remarks.

What I got out of that is that What Hifi are clowns, not that it really needs reiterating. The comment about it somehow being ready for 8K because it can use 2020 colour is so back-asswards I don't even know where to begin. That's also the same site which proclaimed there be noticeable PQ differences between the 700 and 900 even though my usual suite of torture tests, calibration patterns etc revealed no difference whatsover. Idiots.

Mine can play 1080 or 720 mkv's but not 4K, it'll only play those in mp4 format. It's a very picky player when it comes to USB playback, but compared to where it was when I first got it (roughly this time last year) it's come on a lot.

Any browser you use you can get a free translator button feature (free download or a setting that needs to be activated, as shown above; Google Chrome). And then you can read the entire world, in pretty much any language, say the 50 most spoken ones. ...Opera, Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, SeaMonkey, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Vivaldi, Opera Neon, etc. |
