I was tryiing to play one of my many region B blu-rays and it didn't play. It said something about the wrong region so i guess it was still seeing the blu-rays as region A. I was trying to flash it with my older custom firmware but that didn't work. Now yesterday i was trying to play my region B blu-rays again and now they are all playing. I was also testing region 1 and 2 dvds and they were all working too. I have no idea what happened. Now i want to test if region A blu-rays will work but unfortunately i don't have a region A blu-ray.

My question is if someone know if there's a software program that i can rip one of my region B blu-rays and then burn it to a region A disc.

Thanks in advance!
If you have the region free firmware you are supposed to pay every time you want to upgrade. Although its less than the original cost. Kind of stinks.

One interesting note, Region A Panasonic's can often play, region B by hitting top menu when the disc wont play. Most of Arrow and many other popular imports will work this way. Not sure if this works going the other way.

Blast from the past, but I saw a few people saying the same thing about the UB9000. One thing I'm not certain, does this +1 also required for UHD 4k discs too?

Two new items:

1st, just put our exclusive .pdf technical spec document on all of the audio features and technical and behind the scenes information on the UB9000.

2nd, to help our new UB9000 owners get the most out of their a/v system we're gifting all new customers with Spears & Munsil's new 10bit disc.

That's positive news in the right audio/video territory Robert.
I particularly like number two.

Basically every single Panasonic UHD player has the same basic processing guts at its core, so the exact same foibles apply re: oversharpening in luma and chroma even to the almighty UB9000 (though this is the thread for the UB900, in case people weren't aware?).

As we discussed in the other thread, EC to +1 is no longer "required" for Blu because of the moiré it can cause. From what I could tell it didn't affect 4K at all, but then I haven't checked the UHD Benchmark sharpness patterns to make sure. Can't be bothered.

Cut and pasted this from Home Theater Forum and thought our members would like to know this:

How to turn off the "Auto Off" function.

As a factory default, this unit will turn to standby mode automatically if there is no sound and it is not being used for approximately 20 minutes.

To cancel this function

Press [SETUP] repeatedly to select “AUTO OFF”.
Press ◄ / ► to select “OFF” and then press [OK].

Note:

To turn the function on, select “ON” in step 2.
This setting cannot be selected when radio is the source.
When connected to a Bluetooth® device, the function does not work.
SC-PMX150 - This setting cannot be selected when radio is the source or when “Net Standby” is “On”. If “Net Standby” is set to “On”, this function will also be set to “On”. To change the setting, set “Net Standby” to “Off”.

Ooh no, sorry about that! Other than our exclusive free gift you would have also had to pay sales tax with us if you live in NY State.

Um...this sounds like it's for a soundbar or something? Have you actually tried it on the 9000?

I just tried it and can't get this method to work on my UB9000.

This was posted in the UB9000 thread and it was in reply to the 20 minute power down subject. I just PM'd and emailed the member who posted it and I'll get back with his reply.

It's listed on Panasonic's website.

It may be for a different Panasonic product.

This is still a solid UHD player even if it isn't Dolby Vision capable. The video was amazing on it, well worth it for $200 or less still if you can find one and can live without the greatest and latest.

Sorry folks this was a false alarm on the ability to disable the auto power off. However, I will send this Panasonic link to my HQ engineer friends and ask them again to put this feature in the UB9000 and UB820.

The player still shuts down when paused for 20 minutes. I got a UB9000 from VE so that would be great, thanks.

I'm watching Interstellar atm and the player has turned off twice at seemingly random times. By turning off I mean the player actually shuts down as if someone pressed OFF on the remote. Panasonic DMP-UB 700 with latest firmware.
Hi. I recently purchased a DP-UB820 4k blu ray player and have run into the identical issue. I’ve only used the player 5 or 6 times and the spontaneous shut-down has occurred twice; once with a 4k blu ray, and once with a DVD. I’m waiting to hear from Panasonic regarding this issue. I do use a Harmony remote, but Alexa is not in the mix. I’ve checked the firmware, and it’s the latest version.
