That would make no sense because the master was not 2.8K. It is indeed 4K.

But it's up converted crap. What's the point? Studios can take any garbage 2K DI from the past decade and up convert it to 4K. Will it actually be 4K? Absolutely not! The past decade will forever be the ugliest decade in the history of cinema. Unless some of the movies are completely reworked and have the special effects rendered at 4K, 35mm scanned at 4K, and new DIs made. No hope for anything shot on digital, like Avatar, etc.

I wonder if perhaps movies like Skyfall aren't "upconverted", but they simply "save" it in 4K? So, essentially, we get a lot of "dead" bits (zeroes instead of ones).
