Day 1 purchase for me. I cannot wait. My fave two games on the PS2 were Ico and Shadow. Those I actually had fun with and could BEAT lol... ya, I'm not a huge gamer.

How are there not as many games about a relationship between, a child and a giant egale-cat-dog-rat creature who likes to eat barrals?

It seems like such an obvious concsept.

Quote:
As a company, Sony has conducted a number of studies about selling products overseas, and Kobayashi used ICO as an example, showing two different sets of box covers developed in different regions. The design for the US market featured a bigger title and clear lead male character, while the box on sale in Japan had a more refined art style representative of the feel of the game.

ICO sold about 270,000 units in the US, but Kobayashi explained his belief that it could have performed better: "If the packaging was designed differently, we think it would have sold more - in fact on the internet many people have said that the Japanese version was better."

And it was then that he referred to the ICO team's latest project, The Last Guardian, and revealed that the name of the game was selected specifically to appeal to the North American and European markets.

He explained that the studio considers a big budget for a PlayStation 3 game as around the JPY 1-1.5 billion mark, while a small budget is around JPY 100 million.
It's good he acknowledges gamers didn't like the cheesy North American boxart for ICO but I don't understand the big deal about naming it for NA and the EU. The Japanese title is still different to suit that region so the only difference is we haven't had to wait months for an official English title.

Right now, on the Japanese PlayStation Store there's a Last Guardian Behind The Scenes + Trailer along with a bunch of other trailers in the same video.

If you can't be arsed or can't find all that (it's not the top-most update any more):

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/...and-new-video/

Translated there, too.

And here's the official site:

Japanese high quality trailer: http://cdn.jp.playstation.com/scej/trico/trico_tgs.mp4

New screenshots coming!

Hmm yeah, maybe not so much the high quality part.

The 856MB video from the Japanese store looks the best I think.

Short and straight to the point.

There's a 300+MB version of the English translated trailer, I'll try and see if anyone's uploaded it already.

IGN have a video interview

ICO: Little over 20 staff
Shadow of the Colossus: Over 30 staff

The Last Guardian: No number given, increasing compared to previous titles but still relatively small team.
