I prefer Ico...much more enduring. I cared more for the two characters in this game than I did in Shadow. I loved the story of it, also..I just sat there in awe when the game was over.

Both games are short and very sweet but SotC is far more replayable. Lots more ways to approach a colossus, both the traveling and actually climbing over their bodies.

I remember reading that Ueda likes his games to be short.

The US version has a stamina bug that lets you get up more easily. I think you lose less stamina when jumping up diagonally or something.

The game looks amazing!
Like there was any doubt but still, it's been too long since I've played a masterpiece!

my local pawnshop has a few copies of ICO for $15 a piece. Is it worth getting just for the value? (I never played ICO)

I got a copy of ICO last year from GS for like $12 with case and manual in excellent shape. Needless to say after playing it again for the first time in many years (PS1 era), I don't think the game has aged as well as I had remembered it to be, yet at the same time I think it was leaps and bounds ahead of its time in terms of atmosphere and sheer size of the castle.

Definately worth a $20 or less purchase, but I wouldn't go overboard on ebay trying to get it.

ICO and Shadow of The Colossus seem to be set in the same universe, are both "lonely" games, and the main character is accompanied by another character (ICO & Yorda, Wander & Agro).

But, they are totally different GAMES. Sharing almost nothing in gameplay mechanics or types of secenarios.

Since they are so different, I don't think you can say one is better than the other. But, people tend to love or hate these games. I personally love them both and highly recommend playing them. Even now. There really aren't any other games like them, so its still possible to get basically the full experience; as long as you aren't stuck in the era of HD gaming. Both of these games have very strong art direction and should overshadow the low resolution and even encourage general exploration to just see what you can see. ICO in particular, runs even lower in resolution than most PS2 games, but I still can't say it really faults the experience at all.
