I wonder if "in the end" (whenever that comes or means), TLG will be regarded as the "Swan Song" of the PS3 era, like God of War 2 was considered in regard to the PS2.
hunch tells me "Fall / summer 2013", close to the PS4 release. Can't wait to play it, that's for sure, and I hope it delivers as much as it looks it will. |

Sony has abandoned "The Last Guardian" Trademark.
Maybe a few reasons why, but you do need to show that a trademark will be used commercially in order to keep it. So worst case it's completely dead. It's getting a name change. Or what I think is most likely if it is still in development that it's been moved on to PS4 and will have a new title. |

If the game is released with enough marketing, I don't doubt that it will sell marginally well. I just wonder if it'll be enough. You know, Team Bondi. |

Tbh, i think Jap developers need to get their crap in gear. They're getting beat left right and centre in modern console development. It's hard to believe that Kaizen actually originated from this culture. I'm not suprised they do so badly outside of their native country these days when you almost every year without fail receive a great franchise entry or something that just keeps improving while all these guys do is put out a teaser for 5 years and never show gameplay. Just talk the talk. GTA and Rockstar are the only other guys i can think of in the west with slightly higher than expected development times in regards to others but when you consider how much bigger and more interactive their worlds are than others and 'lived in' you understand why it takes so long because each and every thing is a charcater unto itself. You don't have to have that much complexity in a JRPG that's not an open world based game. Most are in fact on closed and linear paths which makes it all the more shocking such delays are allowed to go unchecked. I think they had serious internal arguements which is why they had those key people resign and tbh, if they were in my company and not produced anything to sell after 2 years and that's being generous, i'd have fired them. There is not an excuse in hell why they couldn't produce a good/great game and release it in that time scale ![]() |

It's impossible to get writers block in videogame world unless you're a one man band trying to create the whole game. How in the hell do you get writers block in a team of say 5+? You don't.
I think Jap developers have sat on their arses for far too long and they're finally getting a kick up the backside to perform in line with industry expectations. 2-3 years is almost 1 too many these days so how in the hell Jap developers get away with 5+ in beyond me I mean, would you seriously want a car that costs you £50 a week for 7 years straight to keep and continually repair in a garage and never ever even get the opportunity to even drive it? Even if that car was meant to be a Ferrari or something, i doubt you'd make your money back after selling. You'd face a loss. Now before somebody says 'oh really?' i'll say yeah, a car no matter how desirable will always sell for a heck of a lot less if it's a fixer upper and especially if it's been in and out for repairs. Chances are you're always going to lose money ![]() |

Either way I will be shocked if either company confirms that these titles are dead until the 760 / PS4 is released. That way they can let them slip peacefully into the night and avoid unwanted issues. |
