Not to be a grammar Nazi, but you mean 720 right?

Latest out of gamescom

Quote:
Getting right to the point, The Last Guardian is still alive.* So that's some good news.* Some more good news: The PS3 exclusive hasn't been pushed to the next console generation, either.
That said, there have obviously been hurdles in the development process, some of which we've written on previously, some of which came to light today at Gamescom.
Credit Eurogamer here, as they wrung some context on the matter from Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida.
"We had the game playable," Yoshida said. "At one point we felt that it would be produced for a certain time period. That was the time we prematurely talked about the launch window. But it turned out the technical issues are much harder to solve. So the engineering team had to go back and re-do some of the work they had done."
Mr. Yoshida went on to confirm that the game's being developed for PS3 and hasn't been pushed into next-gen territory.
If you found the lack of E3 / Gamescom presence for Fumito Ueda's latest a bit disconcerting, you're not alone.* Coupled with some of the previously-linked drama surrounding the game, you'd be forgiven if some doubt re: the game's future crept in.
Mr. Ueda's Ico and Shadow of the Colossus remain compelling examples of what interactive media are capable of, both artistically and emotionally.* One could argue the industry needs these types of games as much, if not more, than it needs the various Call of Duty-ish blockbuster franchises, despite the massive impact those types of games have at retail.
Here's to hoping the "re-do" on the The Last Guardian's tech proves constructive.
Eurogamer: Sony had to "re-do" work on The Last Guardian, still a PS3 game

Sony need this game. Its one of those games that customers who bought PS3 were excited about. Without games like these and God of War it simply puts the Playstation brand on par with Xbox that just concentrate on shooting and sports. The gaming industry needs this game.

"Need" is a really strong word. Would it be nice to have? Of course. But "need"? You make it sound like there's no other games on the market (let alone on the PS3) which try to do something more than just pew-pew-pew all the time.

Take the fanboy glasses off and turn off the desperation for a moment, and you'd realize that Sony doesn't "need" anything in particular at this point in time to be released on the PS3. We're near the end of this console generation, there are upwards of 50 million PS3s out in the wild, and a niche game like this isn't going to move the needle very far in any case.

Source would be nice and such a trivial things as AI should be a null and void matter of issues at this point in the consoles life. They're a first party studio for crying out loud. Morons must be just wanting a paycheque

At this point, they are having problems with everything, not just the AI.

So, PS4 it is? I'm willing to bet a fiver on it

I can see my prediction for The Last Guardian being shown on PS4 coming true. They picked a good time to start talking about it again

'Keep an eye out for Last Guardian announcement', says Ueda

Quote:
Acclaimed games developer Fumito Ueda has broken his silence on the protracted and troubled PS3 project The Last Guardian.

In a message posted on his personal blog, Ueda said his grand project was taking shape and added that, once it is complete, he will "pursue new creative projects with a fresh perspective".

Ueda, 42, resigned from Japan Studio in November 2011, though he continues to work on The Last Guardian as a freelance contributor. It has been suspected on many occasions that the project had been pushed to next-gen or would not even be published at all.

"While it's been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team," he said on Wednesday.

"I should also mention that details regarding the Last Guardian release is solely decided by Sony Computer Entertainment, not myself. Please keep an eye out for their official announcement."

The next major press conference scheduled by Sony is its PS4 PlayStation Meeting, which takes place in New York on Wednesday, February 20.

However, Sony has not said whether or not it will showcase The Last Guardian at the special one-off event.

The Last Guardian was initially delayed in 2011 to an unspecified "2012" deadline.

"Moving forward, it is my intent to continue my involvement with The Last Guardian project, as well as pursue new creative projects with a fresh perspective," Ueda said.

"As I rekindle my passions as a creator, I look forward to seeing where it will take me, and I deeply appreciate your support during this transition."

I was expecting it would be moved to next gen like ICO was back in the day.

I have a feeling next gen may be my last tour of duty

I expect next next gen will be even more serious when it comes to always online and gimmicky rubbish like Move and kinect. I don't need any of that crap in my life when all I wanna do is play a game without having to be online to do it

I think that is what the majority of us want to do. I bought move, it hasn't been turned on well since probably the month I bought it.

I will also keep buying Sony consoles, assuming the trend of having the best library continues. Things change (Nintendo with the SNES had an amazing library for that system... now look what their systems have), so who really knows.

I think they've been delevoping it for the PS4 for a while. The game basically went dark with nothing new to show.
