Here's IGN's news

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/...ys-fumito-ueda

The creator of the long-delayed PS3-exclusive The Last Guardian has urged everyone to "keep an eye out" for more news on the game's development.

Fumito Ueda posted on his website that the game is still being worked on and that he remains in charge of the project, albeit in a freelance capacity. What's interesting though is his assertion that it's Sony's job to announce more details about the game, especially with the company having a big event taking place in New York next week.

"While it’s been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team," he said.

"I should also mention that details regarding The Last Guardian's release is solely decided by Sony Computer Entertainment, not myself. Please keep an eye out for their official announcement.

"Moving forward, it is my intent to continue my involvement with The Last Guardian project, as well as pursue new creative projects with a fresh perspective. As I rekindle my passions as a creator, I look forward to seeing where it will take me, and I deeply appreciate your support during this transition."

Now, we're not sure about you, but it's that middle bit that strikes us as interesting. If responsibility for the announcement lies with Sony, it seems reasonable that this could be because the company has yet to officially announce the platform that the game is now being developed for. With a big announcement of some sort planned for February 20, if this was the case then it'd certainly make sense for us to "keep an eye out" for fresh developments.

Not long to go now, folks. What do you reckon Sony will reveal next week? And could The Last Guardian be a significant part of whatever it shows us?

Hope to hear something on the 20th... I was really looking forward to this game but now I just sort of feel numb to it. All the excitement has gone.

Desperately in need of an announcement trailer + release date!

I don't understand why anyone would have ever been excited for this game. Sure, Ico and Shadow are both fun. But the only press for this game has been a video of a dude running around with a big scripted dog and that Ueda is just another misogynist.

*Facepalm

Cause ignorance is bliss

It's like a level of trust upon the developer based upon upon BOTH those past 2 games and hope that they can deliver something amazing once again to this generation (or next gen as it seems to be shaping up).

I find your comments in many instances have been made in ignorance to be quite brunt 'Tarvis' if not naivety

Then your understanding of the definition of those words is in question. Because what I wrote is based on the facts available.

The black bold bits are the 'facts' you mentioned right? Now take a look at the bit in red as to the reason why people would be excited for this game. Because of those very games being made by the same people is the 'fact' of why many were excited for this game. After all, people interested in this game clearly knew of the past history of the company with those franchises and anticipation was based upon those, not some video

One game does not a franchise make. Unless you mean Ico and Shadow are a franchise. But then it's singular, not plural.

Why are you talking about franchises? What's that got to do with your initial point that 'why are people exicted about this' comment?

You asked why people would be excited and had the answer in your own question too which i merely pointed out. The point was that these people have made 2 very well received games and based upon those games people expect this game to also be as good and are excited because of that.

Nowhere did anybody even imply a franchise was there and there are companies that have made multiple non-franchise games that are well received and set expectations for the next game they make. This is one such example.

I'd liken it to Quantic Dreams with Heavy Rain. Because of that, people have high hopes for 'Beyond: Two Souls' their next game even though they have no franchise.

Basically, don't bring up irrelevant points to answer

Didn't pose a question. Wrote a declarative statement. A figurative one. Not a literal one. I'm well aware of why a person would be excited for a nonexistant game. However, a rational person's expectations would be tempered by the available media. In this case, one lone video of a scripted dog running around. Which may or may not have even been intended for release. Maybe it was just an internal video to Sony to say, hey, we're definitely still working on this boss. But because it was leaked, they had to show it.

Little confused much in your declarative statements and have amnesia? . Also highly presumtious of you that expectations should be 'tempered' otherwise the person(s) are clearly irrational(!)

Dude. Seriously. What are you on about? You wrote about (Team Ico's) past "franchises." I responded to that remark by pointing out that either Ico and Shadow are one franchise or there are no franchises. Because neither have a direct sequel. I didn't respond to the rest of the post since I thought it pretty clear that I was writing figuratively and not literally.

I don't get what you're confused about. I never said Team Ico's 'franchises' in any part i mentioned.

I'm just gonna leave it here and let you re-read everything till you possibly get what mistake you made which i clearly pointed out towards in all my posts.

Apologies, my single 'franchise' use which should have been 'IPs' clearly was corrected in a subsequent post below that which showed clearly i knew they were single entry IPs.

The point always was to be focused on your comment as to why people would be excited about this game, not this 'franchise' business that's come as a result.

Trying to get back to my original point, which actually matters, it was that people have faith and expectations from their previous IPs which has them excited for this regardless of whether anything would have been shown or not.

It's like if Naughty Dog announced a new IP say like.....The Last of Us (yes, i realise that they released media etc, but that's not to say before anything was even shown that many had faith in them delivering something very good like the Uncharted franchise has been. Yes, i can actually use 'franchise' here )

Actually, the point is you asked me why I was typing about something. And the reason I was typing about it is because it was a direct response to something you wrote. Also that my original post included an element of figurative speech.
