Dear Adventurers
It’s been a long time coming, but I take great pleasure (and relief!) in knowing that The Last Guardian is in your hands.
When we first began work on The Last Guardian, I intended it to take from and build on our experience working in ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, making it something akin to a greatest hits album. Unfortunately, as you know, we ran into a few twists and turns along the way, and the title took longer than anyone expected. Still, just as ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are truly unique games, so too is The Last Guardian an experience unlike any other.
As you play, take the time to stop and enjoy the scenery as you follow these unlikely companions on their journey. And you definitely won’t want to miss the ending!
The development team and I hope you all have a wonderful time with The Last Guardian. Nothing would make us happier.

Finally, right? It's been a long development for the game with many delays no doubt, but it's good to see it finally happen at the very end of 2016.

I'm not a fan of multiple play trough trophies. Plus I'm too slow for speed runs. Things seemed to go weirdly quiet on this one. Sure delays didn't help.

Yeah, ICO had speedrun trophies, and Shadow of the Colossus had multiple playthroughs (some timed) to unlock all the items, so I was expecting this lol. But some interesting ones here and no collectibles (other than getting all costumes). I really love how the trophy pictures are very much in line with the previous 2 games.

The reviews are pretty good, but noticeably less favorable than Team ICO's first 2 games. However, I do notice that many of the complaints are that the game feels dated...which is quite an understandable thing.

I've seen a couple that mention the beasts pathing issues. Eurogamer specifically says they were at a part for 30 minutes getting it to finally do as it should and said this about it

This wasn't an instance in which the game was too clumsy to bring its pieces to bear effectively. It was something else entirely, something much rarer. It was an instance in which I had to try to properly engage with another creature, as wilful, playful, and easily distracted as I am.

Maybe I just don't have a high tolerance but that would drive me mad. Good to see it's otherwise high praise so far. I'm also interested in if the Pro improves on it any.

Numbers floating around GAF are ~20 FPS on PS4, ~27 on PS4 pro 4k, and locked 30 on PS4 pro 1080p.

Kind of expected to me, as these guys have never been tech wizard types.

Shadow of the Colossus was regarded as a technical marvel when it came out as far as what they were able to pull off on the PS2.

Regarding this game though, I may pass on it or at least wait to see if they iron out the path planning issues with the creature. My game backlog is already far out of control.

Don't think that will happen. The Polygon review states that the reviewer would tell the creature where to go, it would refuse, they would then get up and walk away fromt he controller for 10-15 minutes and during that time the creature would find it's way to where it needs to be. As if it's less a pathing issue and more a timer to give the illusion of a stubborness. Hard to say.
