I hope Redbox gets it soon so I can give it a rent.

9 years to develop a 12 hour game? This is a release I just don't get.

Technically it was 4-5 years, the previous years dev time was scrapped when they moved on to PS4 and started again.

Except it doesn't look like they scrapped everything. It still very much looks like a Frankensteined PS3/4 game.

Physical size should be about 15GB and digital around 12GB.

I had no idea this was already releasing tomorrow until I got shipping confirmation later this afternoon. It seems like the delay flew me by.

Can't wait for this tomorrow!

If the game is more open like Shadow, then those who like to explore will get a lot more time out of the game. If it's linear, then it's more like a direct action/puzzle game.

Sony releasing this only a week after FFXV, not the best timing.

I'm pretty sure this is a linear game. Interviews and gameplay didn't suggest that it was open world like SotC. This is more like ICO, and I'm fine with that. I don't think an open world concept works with this game lol.

Edit: ignore that German flag lol.

After playing for about 3 hours, I have determined that the greatest enemy in the game is the camera. That being said, this game is full of 'aww!'. When Trico sneezed
[Show spoiler]and it completely knocked me over...
lol. Also, make sure you call Trico by holding down R1 and then
[Show spoiler]hold down on the control stick to run in place,
it's hilarious.

This game needs a strategy guide, so you can look over the game's art and every level in detail. I could have sworn I read that Piggyback was doing one, but now I can't find anything about it.

Can't get my collector's edition until after work (after 5pm!), but nice to read some positive reactions. The camera in ICO and SotC weren't the best either lol.

Many in the industry as far as rendering techniques/pipelines used. I am not referring to the framerate specifically.

And the game wasn't designed for that. Especially Yorda's AI.

It was probably the worst thing that one could do to that game.

Trophies were also awful in Shadow of the Colossus. They damaged part of the game's atmosphere.
But what's even worse is that they somewhat managed to break the physics in some way. Maybe it was broken back then, but the bug wasn't visible because of the awful frame rate. The speed runs, which were not that difficult on PS2, are a nightmare on PS3. I know the bosses inside out and my strategies for various bosses simply did not work anymore. Yes, I played the European PS2 version. They are not the same. For example for that fox like boss, I was able to jump on it originally, then stab it while it ran around. On PS3 that doesn't work anymore. The thing is shaking and shaking. I can't even get 1 stab in. But boss 2 is afaik the worst. Basically unbeatable. I got platinum of Ico + SotC, but it took quite some time and it's quite obvious that Sony totally ruined that game by simply looking at the platinum rate. It's 2.85% right now. Uncharted 3 has platinum rate of 13%. Dark Souls 2 even has 17%.

I hated SotC because of all this. And I hated Yorda because of the speed runs. They managed to make me feel the exact opposite of what I was supposed to feel. I enjoyed both on PS2.

And I disagree. Sure, they did a few things, that were considered "impossible" on PS2 hardware. BUT it doesn't matter in the end. Drop those and make it properly PLAYABLE instead. I prefer a solid frame rate over graphical gimmicks.

And trophies were also wrong in Silent Hill 2+3. The "HD" ports were awful already, but the forced trophies make those games even worse.
End game spoilers SH2:
[Show spoiler]Say Goodbye: Defeat Mary.
It seems someone had no idea what they were doing and also didn't know the game. The trophy is simply incorrect for some players.
[Show spoiler]Defeat Maria
Or wait, that's actually
[Show spoiler]Marie
in case you use Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's "brain".

Just opened my CE... holy, did not expect it to look SO AWESOME!! The statue is much larger and better detailed than I thought, and the steelbook is really beautiful (has a few dents though, oh well).

Biggest disappointment: the box is not actually made out of wood lol.

I agree, the camera in SOTC was half the battle of the game.

This is true. Nice to see it finally out there. Only reason I mention that is FFXV is a big seller and could take away sales to LG, since many gamers will still be in the middle of playing FFXV.

I agree completely. While I did manage to platinum ICO, SOTC is near impossible IMO. These games were definitely not meant or designed with speedruns in mind, and the margin of error on time trials is ridiculous. I remember being completely on edge watching the 20 minute final cutscene and credits (which add time to your completion) roll through in ICO to see if I made it. Iirc I beat ICO with about 6 minutes to spare, and I literally played near flawless the entire run. Trophy hunting these games really took the fun out of them.

SOTC on the other hand I didn't even attempt. A simple miss on a patch of fur or something not connecting in some bizarre way was an instant loss.

Even thought the trophies in both games were pretty bad, I did do a LOT more (like getting unique weapons, unlocking horse colors, reaching the garden, maxing health/grip, etc. than I did with the original PS2 games without a trophy list.
