Because you didn't see them in an IMAX theatre I would guess. That's the intended version considering he shot in that format....

But his preferred version is the variable AR version that he chose for every Blu-ray release of those movies

Lucy was never released on 15/70 IMAX film prints like Nolan movies were....
It was scope even in IMAX Digital format

You said intended because he shot in the format, Luc shot in the format and his ratio was not the same.
And are saying he chose and designed the blurays that way?
So he does not care about the DVDs and TV showing of his films?

When TDK came out on Home video Nolan said DVD didn't have enough resolution for the viewers to appreciate the difference between 35mm and IMAX scenes, so he decided to go for the fixed aspect ratio for that version.

With Blu-ray he wanted to "simulate" the IMAX theatre experience filling the screens for IMAX scenes to make the resolution difference even more apparent.

So I guess you are right, in a way he doesn't care about DVD or TV broadcasts of his movies

So marketing then?

The HD streaming and TV versions have the same resolution

Yeah but the source for IMAX scenes is different: Blu-ray comes from an 8K OCN scan. HD streaming and TV from an 8K IP Scan.....

I don't think it's marketing, I think Nolan considers Blu-ray (and I guess Ultra HD Blu-ray) as the premium standard for home viewing.

Since when was he a fan of digital?

Anyway enough on Nolan, no interest in buying any of his films post begins on any format

Never But he knows analog/film home video is never coming back.

He loves film but I don't think he's like Quentin Tarantino that see digital as evil....

I think he just wants to preserve the film experience at the best quality possible...

Even QT uses digital intermediates. Nolan has never used one. Along with PTA.
