Default Sherlock Holmes 3

Quote:
Drew Pearce to Write SHERLOCK HOLMES 3

It’s not much of a surprise that regardless of the success of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Warner Bros. is ordering a script for Sherlock Holmes 3. Getting a sequel script into development has become standard practice for major franchises so if the upcoming film is a success, the studio can hit the ground running with the next one. According to Deadline, Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce will handle the screenplay for the next adventure of Sherlock Holmes and his boy Watson. Unsurprisingly, there are no details about Sherlock Holmes 3. I assume it will involve a mystery, crazy deductive-reasoning skills, and lots of speed-ramping.

Pearce has been on a hot streak lately. He was the co-writer of British superhero comedy series No Heroics and then was hired as a go-to guy for superhero movies including Iron Man 3, Runaways, and The Mighty plus he also did some work for the script for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming monster movie, Pacific Rim. This latest gig serves as a reminder that I really need to get around to seeing No Heroics.

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS Surpasses The First Film At The Box Office

Released in December 2011, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (a sequel to the 2009 revival of the popular character) has now hit $529 million in the worldwide box office, with an estimated $186.7 million domestically and $342.3 million internationally, surpassing its predecessor’s worldwide gross of $524.4 million. Below is an official announcement from WB and

“Our successful box office continues to prove the appeal of Sherlock Holmes, especially in the hands of guy Ritchie and his amazing cast, led by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law,” says Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution. “The film had outstanding results throughout the holidays and continued to gain traction well into 2012.”

“Rolling out this film internationally has been tremendously exciting, as the film has clearly resonated with audiences around the globe,” added Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. “The first ‘Sherlock Holmes’ was such a tremendous success overseas, and to surpass that number in these same markets is truly a remarkable achievement. We congratulate the filmmakers and cast, as well as our international teams, on these excellent results.”

“‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ gave moviegoers another opportunity to experience Guy Ritchie’s fun and inventive take on the legendary detective,” said Sue Kroll, the Studio's President, Worldwide Marketing. “The movie is a great adventure—complete with action, humor and great characters. Congratulations to the filmmakers and cast, who were truly our partners in bringing Sherlock Holmes back to an enthusiastic worldwide audience.”

With the success of the sequel, expect news on a third installment soon. In the mean time, Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows is in theaters now, and will hit Blu-Ray June 12th.

We'll be seeing more news for the third soon enough, I have a feeling.

Robert Downey Jr rocks! He had his problems in the past, but he's one of my favorite actors now. Most of the superhero movies have been disappointments, but he made Ironman worth seeing.
I'm glad they're making another Sherlock Holmes.

Also like the CBS series, Sherlock, although I'm getting bored with the whole addiction relapse storylines.
I thought Mr Holmes looked terrible. If I decide to see a Sherlock Holmes film, I don't want to see a retired Sherlock; I want to see Sherlock in his heyday trying to solve a case. Similarly with this Sherlock franchise, if I decide to see a Sherlock Holmes film I don't want to see a ridiculously slow pace with a mystery I don't care about, I want to be so immersed in the intrigue that I don't think 'Oh, this is slow'.

I thought the film was fascinating from stem to sterm, and Sir Ian just killed it in that movie. Sure, it isn't for everyone's taste...no movie is. If you have a few hours to kill, check it out one of these days on cable.

Well you should be happy they are making a third because nothing about these movies are slow. One of the main criticisms you see from people is that they made this "action" Holmes.

Have you even seen these? They definitely aren't slow. Sherlock BBC is far slower, which I prefer.

I really hope they get this filmed before RDJ has to do Infinity War. I've been waiting so long for this!

I saw the first and it gave me no compelling reason to watch the second. I definitely found it very slow whereas the BBC Sherlock is more engrossing through the way they incorporate things like the Mind Palace.

I am so done with Sherlock. I found it intriguing at first but now it comes across to me as some kind of hipster Sherlock Holmes. That Abominable Bride especially left a bitter taste in my mouth
[Show spoiler]with its stupid flipping back and forth between the present and the past.
I will say that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman make a fantastic Holmes & Watson combo, but Andrew Scott is just annoying as Moriarty and not intimidating in the least. I didn't like RDJ's Holmes at first, but both films grew on me as they're both fun and fast paced and I like the traditional Victorian setting, particularly with the steampunk-esque touches.

Downey was *pissed* by the marketing and opening numbers for Shadows. Felt the studio just dropped the ball. And he wasn't quiet about it.

Yep. Which is why they've waited so long on this one. They don't want to upset him again. Can't really blame them, because this should be a big franchise for them, and WB REALLY needs them right now.

I do hope to eventually see this come to fruition, but I'm not going to hold my breath on it. We've had a lot of murmurs and false starts over the last few years, so I have a hard time buying into news any time it comes out. Here's hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.
