Default Sherlock Holmes 3

Quote:
Drew Pearce to Write SHERLOCK HOLMES 3

It’s not much of a surprise that regardless of the success of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Warner Bros. is ordering a script for Sherlock Holmes 3. Getting a sequel script into development has become standard practice for major franchises so if the upcoming film is a success, the studio can hit the ground running with the next one. According to Deadline, Iron Man 3 screenwriter Drew Pearce will handle the screenplay for the next adventure of Sherlock Holmes and his boy Watson. Unsurprisingly, there are no details about Sherlock Holmes 3. I assume it will involve a mystery, crazy deductive-reasoning skills, and lots of speed-ramping.

Pearce has been on a hot streak lately. He was the co-writer of British superhero comedy series No Heroics and then was hired as a go-to guy for superhero movies including Iron Man 3, Runaways, and The Mighty plus he also did some work for the script for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming monster movie, Pacific Rim. This latest gig serves as a reminder that I really need to get around to seeing No Heroics.

SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS Surpasses The First Film At The Box Office

Released in December 2011, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (a sequel to the 2009 revival of the popular character) has now hit $529 million in the worldwide box office, with an estimated $186.7 million domestically and $342.3 million internationally, surpassing its predecessor’s worldwide gross of $524.4 million. Below is an official announcement from WB and

“Our successful box office continues to prove the appeal of Sherlock Holmes, especially in the hands of guy Ritchie and his amazing cast, led by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law,” says Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution. “The film had outstanding results throughout the holidays and continued to gain traction well into 2012.”

“Rolling out this film internationally has been tremendously exciting, as the film has clearly resonated with audiences around the globe,” added Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. “The first ‘Sherlock Holmes’ was such a tremendous success overseas, and to surpass that number in these same markets is truly a remarkable achievement. We congratulate the filmmakers and cast, as well as our international teams, on these excellent results.”

“‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ gave moviegoers another opportunity to experience Guy Ritchie’s fun and inventive take on the legendary detective,” said Sue Kroll, the Studio's President, Worldwide Marketing. “The movie is a great adventure—complete with action, humor and great characters. Congratulations to the filmmakers and cast, who were truly our partners in bringing Sherlock Holmes back to an enthusiastic worldwide audience.”

With the success of the sequel, expect news on a third installment soon. In the mean time, Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows is in theaters now, and will hit Blu-Ray June 12th.

Robert Downey Jr rocks! He had his problems in the past, but he's one of my favorite actors now. Most of the superhero movies have been disappointments, but he made Ironman worth seeing.
I'm glad they're making another Sherlock Holmes.

amen to that.
He's one of the few actors who demands and holds attention when on screen.

Recently watched The Singing Detective (was some free streaming thing, dont ask) starring Mr Downey and my god was it an awful movie. But his performance kept me glued until the credits.

Yes! I absolutely loved the 2nd (just a little bit more than the first) - this is great news. It's a double whammy of goodness as i didn't know that Iron Man 3 was in the works

Awesome! I've loved this series of movies and Steven Moffat's Sherlock show. My husband loves Sherlock Holmes so they are great shows to watch together.

I have to get this off my chest, so I'll just say it right here.

The second movie made my blood boil. I hated Naomi Watts or whatever her name is. I disliked the fact that they were tossing aside Rachel McAdams for some hooker-look-a-like actress. Rachel McAdams is a competent actor and I loved her portrayal and acting in the first one.

I understand my anger is misdirected towards Naomi Watts because of the directors booting out McAdams for who knows what reason. Perhaps it's because it might seem like a rehash of the first movie witht he same characters? Maybe they felt like introducing another character would inject a fresh new atmosphere?

**** SPOILER!!!! ****

The "thing" that pissed me off like no other was how McAdams was so easily taken out in the beginning of the movie. How can Miss Adler be outwitted by some punk being a lackey for Dr. Mory whatever. This is complete bull shit. Forgive me for my language, but what the ****ing flying ****? SHE OUTSMARTED SHERLOCK HOLMES NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE AND SHE "MAGICALLY" GETS OUTSMARTED BY SOME NO NAME PUNK? Wow, talk about bull shit.

That's what really pissed me off. I was about to walk about because it's just so unbelievable. Sure, you could castrate me by saying that everything in the movie is unbelievable, but honestly? That's an asinine and condescending remark.

Anyway, that's my childish rant and I hope you enjoyed a fellow bluray.com member *****ing like no other. Have a sexy and wonderful day

Good to know that I'm not the only one who didn't like the sequel as much as the first. I too felt it was incredibly lame how they treated McAdams' character.

And that wasn't Naomi Watts. It was the original Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Noomi Rapace. Even though she was fantastic in GwtDT, I thought her character in Sherlock was incredibly underdeveloped. They barely gave her any lines.

I could go on and on about how inferior I felt Game of Shadows was, but I'll stop here.

Here is my counterpoint -

1) Irene Adler only appeared in one Holmes novel, and was only ever mentioned in 3 or 4 other novels, so she wasn't the biggest character in the world. Now, I'll give you that fact that this being a movie, they could have changed the character arch a bit, but I'm guessing that they didn't want Sherlock "tied" to Irene.

Furthermore, one could argue (maybe in vain) that Irene didn't actually die. She's proven to be a master at manipulation - and has bested Holmes, so could it be an act?

I mean, if Sherlock and make it back from a fall of the falls . . . anything is possible, right?

2) I don't know if she was bested by the goon. IT was established in the first movie that Mory was pulling the strings. Once Irene tried to leave, Mory threatened to kill her. So, I think she knows who she is dealing with. I would assume then, that she is aware that this goon is working for Mory . . .

With that being said, I really enjoyed Irene in the first move as well, and was disappointed, but not shocked, that she got what she did in the second movie.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but did you just refer to the gypsy culture and dress as being "hooker-like"? Or are you saying the actress, who's name is Roomi by the way looks like a hooker? Seems to me you are biased against her for simply replacing McAdams. That was a decision that was out of her control as was the depth of her character. You got problems with that then lay the blame on the script not the actress or a specific culture.

I was also let down by the movie, but attacking Noomi or any actress like that is uncalled for.

not sure what all the hate is for Book Of Shadows
I enjoyed it much more instantly than the first - Took me a while to get over the accent of the first and wasnt until I re-watched it a few times post home-release that I truely liked it (now I love it)
Maybe I got what I expected with BoS - more of the same. Then again, maybe it will grow old after repeated viewings. Unlike the first which grew after repeated viewings. All I know is I'm getting really impatient and am gagging to re-watch BoS (I'm having to refrane from naughty downloads between now and release date...and its killing me )

That is what I thought when it happened. She probably faked dying and escaped. She'll pop up in the third one and they will cut to a fast paced flash back of how she made it out alive. Same thing will be done when Holmes reunites with Watson.

Maybe...

Glad to see there are others with this hope/thought as well. I too was disappointed with how easily she was taken out of the picture. I like the actress and thought her character and interaction with RDJ was great.

I enjoyed the first film more... but with subsequent viewings of "A Game of Shadows," I find that I also like the second film more than the first.
