I miss that bike somedays. It was a good ride. Scaled down to a F700GS now, better for whipping around town and my work commute. Plus I don't do two up riding, which the 1200GS was more suited for.

Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (Ang Lee)

Is the first to be shot in a combination of 4K resolution in stereo 3D and at 120 frames a second (fps)

http://www.screendaily.com/news/ang-...102495.article

Quote: The Jungle Book is the first 3D Dolby Vision movie

All done at 2K.

https://www.inverse.com/article/1435...ndbreaking-vfx

But I think the 4K versions are exclusive for Dolby Vision (dual-4K laser) & IMAX 3D 4K Laser.

Half time walk looks to have impressed

Have just seen the first showing of the 3D/4K/120 "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" footage. NO SPOILERS (more)

First, let's say up front, it's causing a sensation here at the Future of Cinema Conference #NABShow People are super-excited.
4/16/16, 1:14 PM

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
It was a helluva power room watching that first showing: "Avatar" producer Jon Landau, @ILMVFX legend Dennis Muren, and many more. #NABshow
4/16/16, 1:15 PM

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
Doug Trumbull had a big group in the VIP section for the first showing. His reax: It's going to change the industry. #NABShow

Dennis Muren was grinning ear to ear when he congratulated Ang Lee afterward. #NABShow

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
My reax: First, it doesn't look like video, but it doesn't look like 24-frame film, either. It's something new. (more) #NABShow
4/16/16, 1:17 PM

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
Second: This isn't just a novelty, or tech for tech's sake. Perfect match of material with format. This clarity = storytelling. #NABshow
4/16/16, 1:18 PM

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
I don't know the future, but this seems to me like it really is something to bring people back to theaters. #NABShow

FWIW, @JimCameron told me he thinks 60 frames/second is enough, which means many people could see something close to what we saw. #NABShow
4/16/16, 1:33 PM

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
.@HowardLukk after seeing the "Billy Lynn" footage: "Stunned... the best #3D I've ever seen... absolutely amazing. #NABShow

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
General consensus on 3D/4K/120 is: feels like video for the first few seconds, but then it goes way beyond. #3D feels flawless. #NABShow
4/16/16, 2:16 PM

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
Tech tidbit: I'm told that at 120 fps, digital noise goes by so fast you can't even perceive it. Less need to clean it up. #NABShow
4/16/16, 2:17 PM

jt9ge4l92ZUVJarAAAAABJRU5ErkJggg== Variety_DSCohen
This really does feel like being present for history being made, like people will be bragging about having been here. #NABShow

Full 4K on each eye, both eyes at 120fps. Presentation was on dual high-end Christie projectors, 28 foot-Lamberts. https://t.co/ju8y455MUC

I'm guessing the FX shots will be rendered at 2K, though.

Life of Pi is cool on Blu-ray 3D, is it immersive too in 4K? ...Same with The Martian? ...The Smurfs 2 (3D versus 4K)?

Sicario, The Revenant; ok, 4K is the ideal here. ...What about The Hateful Eight in 4K?

* One of my favorite flick, The Peanuts Movie, comes in both 2D UHD 4K , and also in immersive 3D picture as in regular 1080p 2D 2K. But the immersive Dolby Atmos audio is only included in the non-immersive 4K picture!
I find that very very very strange; in the way they are promoting picture and sound in one of our most favorite entertainment hobbies...music, sound effects, cinema, CGI picture effects.

Immersion in both picture and sound is like Mad Max: Fury Road.
That's a good recipe, and it comes in 4K too. ...Warner Brothers movie studios.

What's up with FOX, Disney, Columbia/Sony, Paramount, Universal, Lionsgate, ...?

* Oppo should have their owm movie studios in Hollywood. ...4K/3D studios with 3D immersive audio. ...Everything. ...DTS:X and Auro-3D included.

Judging by how the trailer looked in Laser IMAX, my guess would be more than just the FX shots.

I don't think I'd judge anything by the trailer. A 2K trailer does not a 2K release make.
