Don't know about today's professional monitors but in the days of hybrid monitors (solid state electronics & CRT) calibration was needed every week on some models.

Isn’t going to happen. Not after D-Nice publicly made that statement on AVS and thusly exhibited pre-mediated intent…..he’s not that foolish. Any physicality he implied has now been rendered to posturing. I’d be far more concerned about man or beast that approached quickly from behind, without announcement, until the very last second –

exactly , as CRTs drifted much quicker than today’s displays. These days it’s every several months, be it professional RGB oleds or WRGB consumer oleds (used for instance as client monitors or in edit bays) which tend to drift faster than some of the LCDs on the market.

Now,
there is at least one Hollywood studio that has automated the calibration process for its Digital Cinema projector with a permanently mounted $15,000 - $20,000 colorimetry research spectroradiometer in the room and performs daily calibrations thru the automated software which automatically updates the measured color gamut data file, lamp file, etc. whereas others do it a little more manually by in-house staff weekly, or perhaps monthly since you’re dealing with multi-million dollar feature films at theatrical venues in this case.

TV settings is like wrestling on TV, same thing...showtime.

Theaters, do they need calibration...their projektors...light bulbs?
How many do it?

* We need Auto Calibration in our TVs, with Automatic Timers that tell you when it's time.
We need smarter TVs, less wars.

That's what I'm talking about; smart integration. It'll come, just a question of when, and affordability (SoC & NFC).

Meanwhile ...

Look @ this guy ^ straight in the eyes, and tell me he's not a smart guy.

geez Bob, even if his eyes were dilated, I wouldn’t know how to do a comprehensive slit lamp examination - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CggGEzA9L6A#t=1s; nevertheless, Vincent’s likely a bright guy along with having a good, dry sense of humor -

Keep in mind there are quite a few smart people in the A/V industry. And like Vincent , what places them apart and at a higher level is that….they care, beyond their commercial interests and opportunities. Larry of DarbeeVision - http://www.darbeevision.com/executive-bios being another, given his years long service as a VP to MOMS of OC - https://www.momsorangecounty.org/

and this guy, who, despite a hectic professional lifestyle would donate blood to a blood bank on more than one occasion - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post18721352
