Even if you don’t decide however to turn on/off TPC, you can at least see how many Mini Pixel Refreshers you have run under UTT followed by Major Pixel Refreshers which you can’t see outside of the SR menu. PQ is night & day difference in Dolby Vision. The C1’s DV version is 27.17 which may update via future firmware. They rolled out 2 updates in the last week. Still no change to the DV # HDR has its own separate Controller. |

LG must have really made the AI too sensitive. Watching movies shouldn’t be an issue. Now I get if there is a static display on the screen, but the majority of the time movies are going through scenes and aren’t staying static in one area. Has anyone actually asked LG why this is?? If not, maybe it’s time it gets brought up and they issue a firmware update to correct the AI issue. I get that it needs to dim from time to time but not in the way they are doing it, especially when watching movies!! |

I have gone back & forth with TPC simply because it’s a win/lose scenario. No dimming on movies/shows.. Awesome. No dimming on static games (especially HDR) not so awesome. |

Just to double down on this.
APL is indeed higher with TPC off. Doesn’t matter what is on screen. I use 45 for SDR which is supposed to be 100 nits. TPC off seems like the image is brighter. For SDR games 60 is around 125-130 nits. TPC off again with these values seems like the SDR game is brighter. ![]() GRS is for Logos so I leave that alone. A service remote shouldn’t be required. As I said PQ is night & day different with TPC off. I have the new EVO BS panel on my C1. Brightness is capped by the firmware which I am absolutely fine with. Only took me just over a month to discover OLEDs weakness. Others have returned theirs thinking their TVs were faulty. ![]() |

I choose to have it "On" so I can be as close as possible to the DV version. It may go overboard at times, but it overall looks much better than with DTM being "Off" |

It does indeed ad more pop to the image. This is one of those subjective things people either like or not. I prefer the source do the tone mapping. Not because it’s bad, but I find it to be too bright for my Pitch black viewing environment. |

I've only owned an LG C1 for about a week but I've done A LOT of testing and I can tell you now that the DTM on these tvs is absolute dogs**t. The algorithm gets confused all the time which means the picture you are seeing is even further removed from the artistic intent than just messing about with some "wrong" settings.
It's also completely unusable on stuff shot on film as it misinterprets the film grain. I own both the UK version and the DE version of Dune (1984). Same transfer, same HDR grade but different encodes meaning slightly different grain fields. Without DTM: Identical brightness throughout. With DTM: Different brightness between the exact same scenes. I would recommend turning it off. |
