![]() I have both techs and to be honest. 90% of the movies look good on my OLED over the ZD9. Personally I like both for their own strengths but I prefer the OLED overall for movies simply due to consistency in picture quality. Yes, near black rendering can be problematic but then we have blooming, light leakage and milky blacks with LCDs which can ruin the viewing experience over near blacks. Today I was craving for some extra HDR punch and switched back to the ZED. Continues to remain a master class from Sony who have lost the post since then. With WOLED, I think you have to get used to some near black issues (near black chrominance overshoot) irrespective of bit rates but with QD-OLED it seems be fixed yet Panasonic managed to win near black and shadow detail areas with their LZ2000 WOLED. Entire scenes being graded to 1 or 2 nit code values is asking for trouble and the creator needs to know the tech simply can't do it. Vincent still tried to sneak his subjective argument against 200 nit highlights in there

It suggest they didn't use a target display to compare graded results on the consumer display, which in most cases is a LG OLED.

Get ready for some extraordinary color, unbelievably dark blacks and godawful motion stutter on 24p material. I love my OLED, but getting used to that level of stutter has been a bit of a process.

That's ridiculous that they would master it so low. The look of that scene kind of reminds me of the day-for-night scene in Fury Road. The look of the scene on the Samsung QN95B surprised me the most. It's hard to imagine a scene looking that blue on a high-end TV. Hopefully it looks better on disc.

I just don't get how a 1 NIT scene, is considered acceptable by the creators...
I mean, creative intent is very much important but you have to respect the minimum consumer HDR standards too You are basically forcing people to watch the SDR version |

I was thinking the same thing, we've been hearing about OLEDs in suites for years. Perhaps that magic Hollywood Jamba Juice makes you see in the dark?
