So very nice to see another very nice upgrade in digital video display technology!

Brian of Brian's Tech Therapy came to our store yesterday to film our Sony BRAVIA 8 II QD OLED TV. Here's his quick short video and later he will have a full 1st impressions video.

@ Auditor55 , I appreciate your feeling about the $3,999. all in delivered price for Sony's New Flagship 65" BRAVIA 8 II with the 4th Generation QD OLED panel and Sony's 2nd Generation of the XR Processor.

However, please also know that this new flagship 2025 Sony TV does deliver the best color saturation and with it's significantly higher peak luminance capability, and pure blacks.

Sony setup the XR Processor to take full advantage of the much higher contrast ratio to give all images from all content more depth and detailed with the enhanced dynamic tonal range and exceptional Sony contrast control following the EOTF PQ Curve beautifully at ever level of luminance.

Just to do whatever we can to support our clients, we gift our clients with a 10% ($400.) Sony store credit, and a few more $ savings.

You need to see this TV in person, in the Professional or FILMMAKER picture mode and with various, but proper content to see what this new ultra high-end TV can do with all FHD/SDR and all 4K HDR, including Dolby Vision HDR.

4 Grand for a 65” is laughable. I paid 3K for a 77” G4.

Is the price your only objection? When people complain about price it generally means they’re on a budget. The question is what would you buy if money was no option? If there were a 77” model of the Bravia 8 II would you buy it instead of a 77” G5?

Do you own more than one OLED TV, and from different brands? If the answer is no have you ever owned another brand of OLED other than LG? I’ve seen enough of your posts to form the opinion that I believe you’re loyal to LG as a brand and would buy their OLED products over any other brand no matter what.

You’ve given me the impression from a number of your posts that you despise Sony, or at least for their TVs? To bring some fairness into it, LG’s hands aren’t clean, LG have been aholes to their OLED customers as well. LG could’ve improved WOLED tech much quicker but instead they were happy releasing new models with minor advancements that were almost the same every year, for example the C9, CX, C1, C2. If it wasn’t for Samsung creating competition with their QD-OLED panels and companies like Sony using QD-OLED tech in their high end TV models, which in some aspects outperforms LG’s WOLED TVs, LG would still be slowing plodding along with their under 1000 nit WOLEDs increasing the nits of their TV’s by less than 100 per year putting in minimal effort making minimal advancements, continuing to take WOLED customers for a ride. You should be thanking Samsung and Sony because your LG G4 WOLED wouldn’t exist as you know it if it weren’t for QD-OLED tech now existing. LG being the sole OLED manufacturer for years has shown people exactly why it’s not good for consumers when there is no competition.

You shouldn't support corporate greed; that's all this is. Sony originally said the Bravia 8 II would be less expensive than some of their previous OLEDs (i.e. A95l), but they lied, using the excuse of tariffs. However, none of their competitors, thus far, have bumped up their prices due to tariffs.

Like some other companies, Sony has used tariffs to price-gouge consumers. I like Sony OLED; their approach to TVs is geared towards people like me, my taste, but come on, enough is enough. In my opinion, Sony TVs aren't much of a leap in performance from competitors to justify their prices.

I'm not giving Samsung any credit because, for years, they tried to convince us that OLED was a waste of money that we should be purchasing QLEDS, while LG was pushing WOLED along with Sony. I will agree that Sony, Panasonic, and Samsung have put pressure on LG to improve their WOLEDs.

I don't doubt what you are saying, as I have said, I love Sony's approach to OLEDs, the cinematic approach. It's just at that size, 65, is astronomical as far as pricing goes.

I love LG's very aggressive sale for the 2024 G4 MLA OLED TV! You got an excellent TV at an excellent price!

However, just to make this an "Apples to Apples" TV comparison with the same model year and flagship series.

LG's New 2025 Flagship 65" G5 OLED TV is $3,399.
Sony's New 2025 Flagship 65" QD OLED TV is $3,999

Sony's New Flagship 65" BRAVIA 8 II with the 4th Generation of the QD OLED panel and Sony's 2nd Generation of the XR Processor reformatted for this new QD OLED panel

Sony engineer tuned the XR Processor to take full advantage of the very nicely increased peak luminance of the new QD OLED Panel and the pure blacks to now deliver all images from all content with more depth and detail thanks to the enhanced dynamic tonal range. Also the images have better color saturation and color volume.

I also appreciate all of the extra features Sony builds into their flagship Master Series TVs. like the full Q/C, and their individual calibration. I frequently use all of Sony's built-in speakers/drivers as the 2nd center channel speaker or just as the main center channel speaker.

Last but not least is Sony's gift of Sony and Columbia Pictures movies 2 years free with 10 certificates for new movies as they release.

Those are the prices now, the difference is by July the 65G5 will be much cheaper and the Sony will still be a ridiculous $4000.

Just speculation, but I suspect the higher-than-expected price has less to do with tariffs and more to do with Sony sizing the competition and deciding they had a more attractive product than LG.

I was surprised by hints that Sony might price this at less than the LG, as I was pretty sure the Sony was better overall (for my purposes). I have not seen these TVs, but judging from Vincent Teoh's reviews and Sony's track record, I'd call this a reasonable premium for them to charge.

If it turns out that LG, for example, slashes their price to $1800 and Sony stays at $4000, the Sony will not sell. I don't think Sony would do that.

Speaking just for myself as an LG C8 owner, I would pay an 18% premium for Sony, because I am tired of the LGs near blacks. I'm not enough in the market to pay either $3.4k or $4k for either, though.

All TV manufacturers have what they call the "Promotional RoadMap". Prices from all brands and TV series and screen sizes vary weekly as each manufacturers wants to do.

Here in the UK it's currently possible to purchase a 65" G5 for around £3300.00 with £500.00 cashback from LG (so £2800.00). Plus a few vendors are throwing in free LG soundbars worth up-to £1000.00 and 6 year guarantee.

EDIT: Sony are currently offering their 65" Bravia 8 II (K65XR8M25BP.UKA) for £2,999.00 with up-to £300.00 cashback (so £2699.00). It looks like they also offer two DVB-S/2 satallite tuners and support on-board DTS decoding too. Along with a 6 year guarantee.
